Why do people refer to the Leica-S system as “medium format” when it plainly isn’t … it is only marginally bigger than full-frame 35mm as demonstrated by the 80% ‘crop-factor’ (which means the 45mm S-lens is equivalent to a 35mm lens on full-frame 35mm). If you want true medium format, have a look at the Hasselblad H5D-60 (which is technically exactly the same as the H4D-60, but with cosmetic differences). By thew ay, if anyone thinks I am pushing one system over the other, or rubbishing the Leica-S system, you’d be very very wrong. I use both systems … the Leica-S is my “35mm” system and the Hasselblad H4D-60 is my ‘medium format’ system. They are both great tools but the Leica-S is definitely not “medium format”.
