Strength:
Size. Convienent for only one lens but pictures aren't sharp.
Weakness:
Picture sharpness, durability. This lens broke off the camera when it fell from my camera bag 1.5 ft to a carpeted floor. Built too cheaply for me. $240 to repair.I will never buy another Tamron lens. Picture quality not great. Wouldn't buy it again. Customer Service Didn't want to hear about its flimsy lens. Strength:
Great zoom range! It takes a nice crisp picture. Everyone seems to be complaining about the slight fisheye at 28mm and the clarity at 300mm. These problems are so slight that most of the time you don't even notice it. Just remember that you got a bargain if you paid under $500 for this lens.
Weakness:
Slight fisheye at 28mm. I have shot two weddings with this lens, and the picture quality has been excellent. For the price you pay for this lens, I think you get more than you pay for. Customer Service None Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Light; Compact; Sharp at high end; What can you expect from 28 to 300 in one lens?
Weakness:
Vinetting; slow focusing at the high end; sharpness at high end; was told the focusing ring would be tight at first, then get better, but is not; but what can you expect from a 28 to 300 in one lens? Overall, this lens is great for the weight and size, but it's not as sharp as claimed(my opinion), and likes to hunt when focusing at long lengths. Good price for the budget minded person when choosing between this one and others like canon's 35-350. As another review, does it really focus out to 300mm? schwartzkopf, holyfield. it's the war on the shore. Strength:
Light weight, Good quality
Weakness:
noisy, Slow, 300mm ????, very long min. focus distance. Tamron 28-200 is much wiser solution as the difference between 300 and 200 mm lense. The 200 Super Macro II is also focuses much faster and has much less min focus distance. Half the cost too.. Customer Service ... what is that ... Strength:
Many FC in one. Good as a travel lens. Presentable image quality.
Weakness:
Would have liked it to be faster and lighter. Very heavy now, hard to find a ball head tripod which can take it well. Seems to give exposure problems at times. Also, Nikon 3D Matrix Flash metering does not seem to recognize it as a D-lens, therefore reverting to normal matrix patterned flash metering. Seems that the D-compatibility is not total. A mandatory lens for travel. Other than that, you're better off with a AF-S zoom combo. Customer Service None needed yet. Similar Products Used: Nikon 28-200 |

Strength:
I like the lens because it allows me to carry less and lets me be more spontaneous. My pictures have been very good as well.
Weakness:
I only wish there was a way to lock the zoom in place so it did not move if the camera is pointed up or down. I understand that compared to other lenses it is light, but I think it is still rather heavy. I think it is a great lens for traveling light and still getting great results. If you are using a higher quality camera that weighs a lot, the 28-300 will make for a rather heavy combination. Of course your camera bag would be heavier with multiple lenses. I have no regrets buying the lens. Customer Service I have not needed any. Similar Products Used: I sold my Canon 75-300 zoom after purchasing the Tamron. That lens was much lighter, but does not collapse as short as |
