Tamron AF28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 LD Aspherical (IF) 35mm Zoom

Tamron AF28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 LD Aspherical (IF) 35mm Zoom

DESCRIPTION

A totally new optical system that incorporates three Hybrid Aspherical elements and two high-grade LD (Low Dispersion) glass elements. Together they provide never-before-possible sharpness, contrast and color depth, while eliminating chromatic aberrations inherent to a high-power zoom lens of this magnitude. These state-of-the-art optics are housed in a sophisticated "Quad-Cam Zoom Mechanism" which enables four lens barrels to be extended and retracted effortlessly - achieving compactness at 28mm, while holding precise extension at 300mm.

Strength:

Versatile. Good for people who do not want to fumble around with several lenses.

Weakness:

minimum focussing distance too high (compare to standard wide lenses). Vignetting. Not too sharp. Distortion high at the extreme (28mm/300mm) settings.

Not recommended if you plan on doing very large prints of your pictures. If you do not want to spend too much money on your equipment (read: only one lens), but still want to have all options, this might be for you. Remember: you get what you pay for.

First class lens with no apparent flaws.
I can now use my Canon EOS 100 as a one lens camera and avoid the annoying "wrong lens on the camera" situation

Weakness:

Very rarely do I buy a product that lives up to my expectations. This lens is everything that I hoped it would be.
