Sigma has announced their first-ever scholarship contest. The Sigma Corporation of America Scholarship will award a $5,000 cash prize and $1,000 in Sigma products to one talented high school senior (graduating in 2010) that is pursuing a photo-related career, such as photography, photojournalism, graphic arts and design, visual arts and art history.
Each applicant must submit up to five thematically-tied photographs and complete an application form, which includes a brief essay. Applications will be accepted from November 19, 2009 to February 15, 2010. The public can vote online for the top three students of their choice from February 16, 2010 to April 23, 2010. Sigma executives will then select a winner from the top three public vote-getters and will announce the scholarship recipient on May 3, 2010.
