Sigma has announced that the DP2 Merrill compact digital camera will be available July 12th for $999. The DP2 Merrill is named after Richard “Dick” Merrill who co-created the Foveon X3 Direct Image Sensor technology that is used in Sigma’s cameras. This upgraded version features a 46-megapixel APS-C image sensor, a fixed 30mm f/2.8 lens (35mm Equiv. 45mm), TRUE II processor engine, RAW recording, 3.0-inch LCD display, VGA 640×480 with 30 fps video recording, manual focus and an assortment of advanced options and capabilities.
