The annual PDN PhotoPlus Expo tradeshow starts later this week (Oct. 28-30) at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City. PhotoPlus is a unique photography tradeshow in that consumers as well as photography professionals can attend. It’s a great place for photographers to test drive new cameras and lenses they’re thinking about buying as well as learn new techniques at the many seminars and workshops. According to the PhotoPlus Expo Web site there are over 200 exhibitors, including camera and lens manufacturers, book and magazine publishers, professional organizations, camera bag makers, all kinds of accessory manufacturers and even big camera dealers like B&H and Adorama.
Here’s a list of some of the companies exhibiting at the 2010 PhotoPlus Expo:
Canon Kodak HP Leica Lensbaby Lowepro Manfrotto Nikon Olympus Peachpit Press |
Pentax Professional Photographers Of America (PPA) Sigma Sony Tamrac Tamron Think Tank Photo Tokina Vimeo Western Digital |
I don’t expect any major camera or other photo equipment announcements at this year’s PhotoPlus Expo since Photokina was just last month in Germany. Photokina takes place every other year and most of the camera manufacturers make their biggest announcements at that show. However, PhotoPlus is a great place for people who couldn’t travel to Germany to get their first look at new gear like the Nikon D7000, the new Fujifilm X100 digital rangefinder, the Canon EOS D60 and 8-15mm fisheye zoom lens, the Olympus E-5 digital SLR, Sony’s new SLT EVIL cameras and maybe even the mythical Pentax 645D medium format digital SLR.
For more information on all cameras and photo accessories announced in the past couple of months check the 2010 Photokina page, browse our Photography News section or browse product announcements and articles by category or manufacturer (see category links in right-hand column). And if any new cameras or other photo gear is announced during the show we will post it here.
