Pentax has announced new K-5 digital SLR camera. Based on the Pentax K-7 DSLR design and layout, the K-5 comes with some new and improved features taken from Pentaxian shooters customer feedback.
The K-5 features a 16.3 megapixel CMOS sensor, widescreen 1080p HD video recording, a 3-inch LCD, 80-12800 ISO range, expandable to 51200, and improved noise performance, focus and shutter speed priority during AF-C, improved in-camera HDR image capture, Pentaprism viewfinder, 11 point SAFOX IX+ autofocus system with dedicated AF assist lamp and light wavelength sensor, weather and coldproof design, Shake Reduction (SR) stabilization system, a 77 segment metering system, maximum 1/8000 second shutter speed, up to 7 FPS for action shots, HDMI port outputs, a built-in electronic level, and in-camera image processing and special effects filters.
The Pentax K-5 DSLR will be available in October for $1,599.95 (body only) and $1,749.95 (lens kit with the 18-55mm WR).
