i received this camera as a present. at first i was amazed with it’s exterior. the camera body is sleek and compact, easy to hold and fits into my pocket easily. however it is not how the camera looks that’s important, but the quality of the imaging. the pictures are very blurry! i had to retake so many shots because the focus is really bad. the pictures come out red and orange in dark lighting so don’t even think about taking pictures in candlelight. the videos are very bad as well, as it turns up darker than reality. all you see is small black dots here and there and it is very blurry and unclear. overall, i would not recommend the fe-4000 to anyone. my friends bought it for $230AUD and it is not worth it’s price. you can buy a cheaper canon or sony that can do a better job. in this case, it really is don’t judge a book by it’s cover. the camera may look good, but does a poor job.

    Jessica-
I have a feeling we can help you with your camera image quality problems. I suspect that the blur you’re experiencing is from motion and not a focus problem. If you’re taking pictures in low light, motion blur is bound to happen. And the color problems in low light are also common and not really a camera issue. Camera marketing has, to some extent, convinced us that digital cameras are magic devices that can take perfect pictures in any environment. That’s just not true, though. Proper technique is always going to make a big difference. Please visit our digital cameras forum and post some sample photos and let us see if we can help you get better photos from your camera. One of the worst cameras I have ever bought – Has never given good results – images have always been blurry – shaky – not properly focussed – the settings are cumbersome – keep changing – trying all possible modes – handshake should be automatically compensated for – but it doesn’t – results have been extremely dissapointing – and that is to say the least – got it for around $100/- in INR4600/- but one of the worst purchase decisions.

I agree worst camera I have every bought, very very blurry and settings always change, biggest waste of money, and its not the user it is the camera, what a joke!

Its the worst camera money can buy. The resolution is as a 3 MP camera and all pictures are dull and blurry. I have sent it to the Olympus service stn and they say its OK. My suggestion – Please never take an Olympus camera- even if they offer you free… its a headache and waste of time.. give it as a gift to a person whom you want to trouble for life
