If you’re like most photographers, you probably haven’t thought much about Nikon’s new Coolpix P6000. It’s not getting much attention with all the hype about Canon’s new G10 and the Panasonic Lumix LX3. But Nikon’s Coolpix P6000 has everything required to be a serious competitor in the premium compact digital camera space. It’s got a wide-angle 4x optical zoom lens (28-112mm 35mm format equivalent) with Vibration Reduction (VR), 13.5-megapixel resolution, RAW capability, optical viewfinder, and flash hot shoe. The body design is professional, too. It’s got a serious rubberized grip, a knurled metal mode dial, and it even has an exposure control dial. Unlike many compact digital cameras, the P6000 feels like a serious photographic tool.

Nice review on the P6000. This is going to be a hot contender for Xmas I think and will put Nikon back on top of the popularity stakes.
Thanks for the comment, Zoe. This is only a preview, though. We will have a much deeper review in a few weeks. Take a look at one of the review in our Pro Reviews index to get an idea of what to expect.
