Today, Nikon announced the AF-S DX 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR compact, super telephoto zoom lens. The AF-S DX 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR lens features Nikon’s Vibration Reduction (VR) II Image Stabilization system, Nikon’s Silent Wave Motor (SWM) technology, Nikon’s Super Integrated Coating (SIC) for color consistency and reduced flaring, Tripod Detection Mode, and a High Refractive Index (HRI) lens element.

The lens is ideal for family picture takers and photo enthusiasts capturing anything from sporting events to family vacations. It also compliments the 18-55mm VR DX-format camera kit lens coupled with the just-released D3100 D-SLR camera.
