Sony has an affordable new entry for the rugged waterproof point-and-shoot camera category. The Sony Cybershot TF1 is priced at just $199 and has an all-new rounded-off body design with a much-needed grip added to the right side of the camera. In keeping with Sony’s previous waterproof cameras, the TF1’s style is more Ferrari than Jeep, in spite of its rugged build. But even though it would look totally at home all up in the club, it’s waterproof to 33 feet, shockproof from 5 feet and freezeproof to 14-degrees Fahrenheit. So you can take it straight from the snowboard park to the club, if you want. It is a budge model so the features are pretty basic. The lens is a 4x 25-100mm f/3.6-4.7 optical zoom and it has a 16-megapixel 1/2.3-inch CCD sensor and 720p HD video. If you want full HD video, a touchscreen display or a fast burst rate (the TF1 can only shoot 1 frame per second), you’ll have to step up to the Cybershot TX200V, TX66 or the TX20.
