Datacolor "Real New York" Photo Contest Timed to coincide with the 2010 New York Photo Festival, Datacolor is sponsoring a “Real New York” photo contest. The grand prize is a trip to the 2010 Photokina tradeshow in Cologne, Germany, this September. Contest photos will be displayed on the Datacolor Web site and the public will be able to vote for their favorite images.

From the contest announcement:

“The ‘Real New York’ photo contest invites photographers to submit examples of their work that capture the essence of the city that never sleeps, and the urban core of the metropolis that goes beyond tourist hotspots. The submitted photographs should illustrate iconic images that speak what the real New York is through its sights, textures, spirit, and more.”

 
Datacolor is hosting the VIP lounge at the 2010 New York Photo Festival in Brooklyn, NY this week (May 12-16). To enter the “Real New York” photo contest, see contest photos or read the complete contest details, please visit, www.datacolor.com/therealnewyork. The deadline for “Real New York” photo contest submissions is July 24, 2010.

    Ahhhh – they so often are. Can you be specific? I think some rights grabbing is ok – e.g. the winnner’s photo can be used to promote the contest. But some companies definitely take it too far. What is this contest taking in return for your entry?
