Gift cards are the last resort of those who wait too long or have no idea what to buy. There’s no shame in that, though. It happens to the best of us (I only give gift cards). The good news is no one complains when you give them a gift card or cash. It’s not glamorous, but it gets the job done. If there’s a pro camera dealer in your area, that’s a good place to buy a gift card. You can also get them from big, trusted online dealers like B&H and Adorama. Big box electronics stores are also a possibility, although they won’t have as wide a selection of cameras and photo gear as a dedicated camera dealer. Sometimes cash or gift cards are actually the best things to give. If you’re giving to someone who’s shopping for a new camera that costs hundreds or more, then you can best contribute with cash or a gift card. It might not feel as good as giving an actual solid gift. But you get to help out with a big, important purchase.
