It’s a little big for a pants pocket but it’s still very compact – especially considering the 16x optical zoom lens. TheSX170 IS is easy to use as well as versatile. It features Canon’s Smart AUTO shooting mode, which evaluates a scene and choose the best settings from over 30 pre-programmed scene modes. The official press release says the Canon PowerShot SX170 IS is “scheduled to be available in September,” so it should be in stores any day now. The suggested retail price is US $179.99.
