Today, Adobe announced the Photoshop Touch Software Development Kit (SDK), that allows developers to utilize the Touch SDK to create new apps that interact with Adobe Photoshop CS5 on the desktop. The new Photoshop Touch SDK also makes development possible for mobile and tablet applications for the Android and BlackBerry Tablet OS and not just for Apple iPad and the iOS.
Using the Software Development Kit, Adobe has also developed three Photoshop Touch apps that utilize the Apple iPad touch screen. Adobe Color Lava allows users to create custom colors and swatch themes by mixing colors on the iPad with their fingertips. These can then be saved and imported back into Photoshop. Adobe Eazel allows users to paint with their fingers, acting as the brush, to create realistic digital paintings that can be sent to Photoshop CS5 for further editing. Adobe Nav uses the iPad to let users select and control Photoshop tools, customize the toolbar, and create, reorder, browse, and zoom in on up to 200 open Photoshop files. Photoshop CS5 users will need to download a free software patch to use the new apps.
Developers can download the free Adobe Photoshop Touch SDK for Windows and Mac OS at www.adobe.com/devnet/photoshop. The Adobe Color Lava, Adobe Eazel and Adobe Nav apps for Photoshop will be available in May for $1.99-$4.99 at the iTunes App Store.
