I have put the NEX-5 through some rigorous stuff and it is standing up quite well. I have several sony and Minolta lenses for it. The body is a bit subject to dings scratches and dents but after what i put it through this should be expected. A couple of notes that you might be interested in
1. its not great in low light, there is quite a bit of noise at its lower recording level (video)
2. It pays to use the fastest card you can buy
3. This is a very interesting note, when used continuously in the video record mode (ie. 30 minutes or more the camera overheats (an over-temperature warning flashed on the screen) I have not found a work around yet for this but leaving the viewing screen fully extended seems to help. Ice in a plastic bag also worked.
