Strength:
Quick focusing (at least on the Canon) Good maximum aperture Sharp results
Weakness:
Feels rather lightweight. I bought this lens a few days ago, and it is the first independent lens I have owned. I am delighted with it. I was warned by the salesman that, on the EOS 10D, it may not focus correctly, and I checked it immediately. The focus is as fast as any of the Canons I have (and I have several, including two "L" lenses) and the sharpness is excellent, at least on digital. In addition, the out-of-focus details have a quality similar to the Leica lenses I own (I think it's called Bokeh!). Highly recommended. Customer Service No need. Strength:
Sharpness, contrast, weight. The price is right.
Weakness:
for some, the lower price will keep them from trying this lens. After nall, they will reason, a Nikon or Cannon is 3 or 4 times the cost. Remember when digital watches were many hundreds of dollars? Thanks to technology, you can get one now with a big Mac. It seems technology can reduce the price of pro quality lenses. This Tamron has quickly become a favorite. Sharp, light in weight, F2.8 throughout its focal lenght, comfortable to use and designed for digital imaging cameras (just as good with film too). Sharpest lens I own, especially wide open. Great contrast also. This lens, to me, is six stars. Oh yes, did I tell you it is really sharp.... Customer Service Had a mark on the lens that i thought was under the lens. Drove out to Tamron, was told it was on top of the lens and they removed what i elieved to be a damage while I waited. Great service! Similar Products Used: Nikon Nikkor 35-70mm f2.8 |

Strength:
Constant f2.8 - a genuinely fast lens Appearance - it looks real cool Build quality - superb
Weakness:
None yet I bought this to use with my new Canon 10D. WOW!! After reading the reviews in this site I was convinced and shelled out my hard earned cash for this lens. I have used it a lot and have yet to be disappointed with the results. This is a pro quality lens and really produces tack sharp images throughout the zoom range. I used it recently at a catalogue photoshoot and my client was blown away with the quality of the images. If you don't want to pay premium OEM prices but still demand quality and speed in your optics then go out and buy this today Customer Service Not needed Similar Products Used: Canon own brand prosumer lenses Sigma Vivitar |

Strength:
1.) Sharpness at the low end. 2.) Very competatively priced. 3.) Tamron's warranty very good.
Weakness:
I have not found any so far. As previously stated in another review of this product, I was hesitant about purchasing this lens after having owned a Tamron 28-200 and hating it because it was so soft. However, this lens is a definite keeper. The optical engineers at Tamron hit the mark with this lens. It is everything the other lens is not. It is very sharp even at the low end. I wish to respectfully disagree with my colleague who stated that this lens is not wide enough for a D100. I also shoot with a D100 and I have found this lens to most be most satisfactory. However, the criteria I used to make this claim may be diffent than that of my colleague, therefore I respect it. I would recommend this lens. Customer Service Excellent. A bit warmer in color than Nikon Lens Manual focing is not good A very good lens for my F80, 35% price of Nikon AF-S 28-70 F2.8D, but with at least 70% performace with it. But it's not wide enough for D100. Similar Products Used: Nikon AF24-85 F2.8-4D Nikon AF35-70 F2.8D Sigma AF28-105 F2.8-4.5D |

Strength:
Mega sharp, lightweight yet robust, easy zoom and relatively quiet focus.
Weakness:
NO USM <- but I'm not complaining too loud After having the Tamron 28-300 XR lens and absolutely hating it for softness, I was reluctant to go Tamron again. I read reviews here on the Di lens, and some of the photo mag reviews, and decided to take the bite. The lens performs better than expected. I have thrown away my intentions for the L series 28-70 lens. The 2.8 is razor sharp, and for portraits this is an incredible lens. I have also shot distant shots of scenery as well and the sharpness throughout the focal range is amazing. I shoot film and digital. My digital test shots for this lens are here: http://www.pbase.com/kevgre/digital_dof_tests Customer Service Not required yet. Similar Products Used: Just about everything. I have shot with the Canon 28-70L as well and had a trouble seeing the difference |

Strength:
Sharpness color Cost 1/3 as canon 24-70L Fast AF speed
Weakness:
Cheap lens hood. Not very sharp at F2.8 I compare this lens with the Canon 24-70L. Finding that both lens are very close in color, sharpness and contrast. Of course, the Canon 24-70L still a better lens but the cost is 3x more. Similar Products Used: Canon 17-40 F4L Canon 50 F1.8 Canon 135 F2L Canon 70-200 F4L |

Strength:
Incredible sharpness and colors. Small and light. Cheap filters. Excellent construction.
Weakness:
Auto focus is not as fast and silent as Canon USM - but still very acceptable. Still a bit heavy, although lighter than any other f/2.8 This lens compares to professional $1000 lenses and in many cases exceed them. In sharpness and color it is as good as the Canon 28-70L. Slightly softer at f/2.8 but not very noticeably (I could see it only in resolution chart testing). From f/4 up it's just as good. At 70mm it is better than the 28-80. No better lens available currently in this range for the money - possibly 24-70L is sharper. Similar Products Used: Canon 28-70mm f/2.8L |

Strength:
Good build, light and durable. Zoom and focus rings have a good feel. Fast and sharp. Great value!
Weakness:
None. This is a great lens--substantial feel, smooth operation and impressive results. I've used this lens quite a bit in the last few months. From shots of my grandchildren in the mall to shots of a swamp from my kayak. I'm increasingly impressed with the sharpness and color of my prints. The speed of the 2.8 has saved some good shots for me several times already. It's simply a joy to use. This lens is an especially good match with my Canon Digital Rebel. When used with the battery grip, the whole package is very well balanced.
