Strength:

The FAST FOCUS!!!!!!!!
It is quit, the USM works like a dream.
It could take a drop from the 3. floor. Of cours not, but it is good.
It is sharp in ewery corner.

Weakness:

i'm not the strongest man, so it can be a little heavy. If i use it the whole day.
But thats not realy a weakness, i just have to start working out.

This is a great lens if you have a good camera body. Like the 1n, 3, 30/33(7/7E) and the 1V. If you put this god send pies of glass on a 500 or anything like that, you got a problem. You don't buy a PRO lens and put it on beginner camera.
You don't put diamonts on a plastic crown.
But it if you are into photography!!!!

Customer Service

No, and i don't hope i ever will!!!

Strength:

Fast Av
Fast focus

Weakness:

Its heavy
Sticks out like a sore thumb, draws alot of attention.

Great lens. Good for low light/indoor sports. I don't like the heavy weight and size, but thats what you get with a 2.8 lens. The f4 might be a better choice for a travel lens. Its impossible to blend into a crowd carrying this thing, it screems PRO even if you aren't.

Strength:

Sharp image quality at all focal lengths. Quiet, fast autofocus.

Weakness:

heavy if you've gotta carry it around for a few hours.

If you have a canon body, and you're looking for a better lens then the stupid 35-80 that came with it ;) then BUY THIS LENS, you won't regret it!

Strength:

This lens has excellent image quality throughout the entire f/stop range, and throughout the zoom range as well. The lens is very rugged. Nice tripod mount.

Weakness:

None..But if I had to name one, I would say the weight. But it isn't a problem for me, and I'm a skinny guy!!

This is the best lens I have ever used. It is super sharp, and super fast focusing. Plus with the 2.8 f/stop, you can shoot in dim light wih no problem. If you shoot weddings, or indoor sports, this lens is a must!! If you shoot outdoors in the daylight, save your money and get the f/4 version of this lens. If you a serious photographer or want a lens that will give you professional results, put a mortgage on your house and get this lens..:o) Personally,I love it!!!!!

Customer Service

Haven't used it, but if I had tocall B&H, I would save my time. They are jerks(for the most part)

Strength:

Extremely sharp, 2.8 big aperture for background blur, no flare at all.

Weakness:

Big lense. The barrel is pretty long.

This is the sharpest zoom lense I have ever seen. It appears to be even sharper than the 28-70/2.8 L. The pictures taken with it have some 3D look. I love this lense.

Customer Service

No quality problem at all.

Strength:

Sharp wide open. Ability to use 1.4x and 2x extenders. Fast focusing, quiet. Image quality excellent for a zoom lens!

Weakness:

Tripod collar gets in the way. Take the collar off for more portable shooting. Image degrades noticably with 2x extender, but still quite acceptable. With 1.4x, you'll lose about 5 to 10 percent in image quality. Some lenses may "lose traction" in the focusing ring when focusing manually. (I have two of these lenses...one of them does this.)

My "standard issue" lens on the 1n body. Lightweight. At a little over 2 1/2 pounds, this is considered lightweight compared to the 200 1.8L EF lens that I use constantly. Image is NOT close to the 200 1.8L EF, but then, what is? (Not even the 300 2.8L EF is close to 200 1.8L EF no matter what others say) Color rendition is excellent, none of the blue-green cast from the Nikon ED stuff. Balances nicely on the 1n with a power winder.

If you're starting off and deciding between the Nikon and Canon lineup, go for the Canon. Dealers will PUSH Nikon since they get inscentives (known as "Points" or "Spiffs") from Nikon. I've worked for a dealership so I should know! Canon doesn't offer inscentives since they feel that the product will sell themselves. All electronic lens mount (and a larger mount) on the Canon, plus near silent focusing. It took Nikon OVER 10 years to catch up. Nikon is still trying to catch up. "Silent Wave"? A mere copy of Canon's Ultrasonic drive. All electronic lens mount of the newer Nikon lenses? Another copy of Canon's EF lens mount. When Nikon starts using a larger lens mount (they won't) or when Nikon starts using flourite in their lens (probably not), then they might have a chance against the L series Canon lenses. ED vs Flourite? in terms of color balance, the lens with the flourite/flourite mixture will win out. No ugly blue-green cast with this lens...unlike the other guys.

THE LENS TO GET for 99.9% of the users who need a flexible 70 to 200mm range. The other 0.1% will go for the 200 1.8L EF and a 85mm 1.2L EF combo (which is what I'm using) for that extra light capability and extreme detail. If you have the 70-200 2.8L in your bag, then you're doing it right. But please, no N*K*N zooms...or you'll suffer the blue-green color cast.

Customer Service

Haven't had to use with this lens.

If you want the best zoom lens in this range (70-200mm) then this is the lens for you. I have had this lens for over 2 1/2 years and I am still as impressed with it as the day I bought it. Forget about the Nikkor version in this range-- too slow and the auto-focus is "loud."

Fast
oh, Fast

Weakness:

Can be a bit bulky
polarizer is awkward to adjust when lens hood is attached
Weight, but its not prohibitive

If you want the best lens in the world, buy this lens. It IS HEAVY, but what the hell do u want from an f2.8??!! Pictures are sharp and bright right to the corners. I've never used a lens this quick before, and I can't get over it's ability to EAT light, First day i got this lens I tried something I've never been able to do before...take pictures of low flying jets in the dark, unreal. Thsi lens will never need IS, because in the daytime, shutter speeds are in the order of 4000th of a second wide open, and anyway, if ur gonna lug a lens like that around, yo're gonna have a tripod aint ya? If you can afford it, buy it now, If you can't, sell your Mother and save save save......u won't regret it.

Customer Service

None yet, but gave some good advice, and knocked some money off
