Strength:
The IS (Image Stabilization) really work. Sharp, don't have to carry too much lenses. Good zoom range.
Weakness:
none I bought this lens to replace my canon 28-105mm /3.5-5.6 lens. I like the look and feel of the lens. It give me a sharp and crispy images every time. I never have to put my camera on the tripod when using this lens. The IS really work. I put this lens on my A2E camera and the camera really look like a pro, instead of other cheap plastic lens. This is a must lens if you can't afford the L series. Customer Service Not yet Similar Products Used: Canon 28-105 USM |

Strength:
Good focal range
Weakness:
Max aperture is f5.6 from 80mm upwards. This is a useful lens for general photography but I find the distortion at 28mm very poor for a £400 lens. The new 28-200mm may be a better bet and if your budget (and your arm muscles) can stretch to it, a used 28-70mm f2.8L will give far better results. Customer Service Pretty good, but expensive. Parts for FD system now hard to find! Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Sharp and contrasty.
Weakness:
A bit flimsy feeling at first, though it's holding up very well. Very high quality lens and the IS function opens you up to all sorts of creative options, without a tripod! This isn't the only lens you'll ever need but it's a great one to have when you just want to carry one lens. Stick some high speed film in it and you have one heck of a low light lens. This is a good lens for everyone from novice to the most serious amatuers or even pros who won't beat it up too much. Customer Service haven't tried Similar Products Used: Tamron 28-200 |

Strength:
Wonderfully sharp photos, roll after roll. Mounted on my Elan IIE, it does not seem heavy to me at all.
Weakness:
zoom barrel quickly slides forward when pointed down. Moving away from a point and shoot, I wanted to do it right the first time. The IS in this lense makes me looks like a professional. Spend the few extra bucks for this lense. I carried across Europe on vacation and my pics look like postcards. I did the research and visited all of these types of sites. It paid off in this lense. If you hate to look foolish, then buy this lense. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Very inexpensive for an IS lens and the image stabilizer (IS) as done by Canon is excellant. For many this will be the lens that spends the most time on the camera.
Weakness:
The IS is not as effective as the IS on the Canon 'L' 100-400. While the lens with IS should be a good available light lens, the viewfinder is much too dark with this lens when compared with the Canon 28-105 I really wanted to like this lens and I do use it, but I do not really like the lens and constantly have to remind myself that it costs 1/3 of what my other lenses cost. Probably I should have returned it and stuck with the 28-105 until an 'L' series IS lens was available in the range. Customer Service Not needed for this lens. My one experience with Canon service has been favourable. Similar Products Used: Canon 28, 50, 28-105 |

Strength:
This is a great "all-around" lens to keep on the camera. 5X zoom really comes in handy. It has very good image quality across its aperatures and focal lengths. The IS is great insurance against shake. This was my bread and butter lens for a long time. If you can only afford one lens starting out this would be a good choice. Fast focussing, USM...good deal.
Weakness:
IS can't act as a substitute to aperature for anything but camera shake. Sometimes you need the aperature for the capturing moving subjects. I find that I use this lens less and my Sigma 28-70 F2.8 more because of that. Excellent "all-around" lens with powerful 5X zoom. Customer Service Not needed in 5 years of service. Strength:
very practical range; IS, not too heavy
Weakness:
distortion, sharpness, contrast I was thrilled by its range and the IS feature, since i try to avoid tripods, if possible. But after making the purchase i was rather dissapointed with the results i got. The heavy distortion at the 28 and 135 mm ends (only at 50 mm there seems to be none) makes it rather difficult to use in many situations. The transparents i shot (Provia 100F usually) weren´t sharp at all. I compared the scans to the shots i took with the EOS f2/100 and there was a world of difference between the two. I don´t think the optical quality is that great. Very practical for travel photography, though. Sold it rather soon. Customer Service never needed Similar Products Used: 75-300 IS; 100-400 IS |

Strength:
IS is NOT a gimmick!
Weakness:
Wobbly end when fully extended to 135 mm. Shown photos to fellow photo-pals taken with this lens with consumer grade films & they swear it was taken with a "L" lens! The colour rendition is astonishing.EOS users should go straight for theis lens as a standard zoom. Great for travels, especially "streets photography." Customer Service No complaints Similar Products Used: 24-85mm Canon |
