Strength:

Tack sharp, good balance. A legendary Nikkor.

Weakness:

Manual focus feel is "loose" like many AF lenses.

Excellent value for the money.

Strength:

Great sharpness and contrast, great build quality and weight.

Weakness:

None, but I would like to see a tripod collar, although one is not really needed.

Excellent lens! I've found it as sharp as everybody says it is. I've gotten some very tight compositions with lens, from mountain scenery to flowers. I did find it a bit awkward to carry around for travel photography, but I still managed to get some nice shots with it anyway.

Strength:

Excellent sharpness and contrast, light and compact, top level craftmanship, superior mechanic engineering.
Price cheap for the performances

Weakness:

a very small distortion, which, indeed, is the lonely thing that separe this lens from absolute perfection

is one of the best lenses never made, is a standard reference; the colours slides, in particular the ones with low speed have a full satured chromatic tonality and an exceptional fine details definition, with superb colour separation. The contrast an the micro contrast is in all the field covered excellent. At full aperture the lens had already an oustanding performance and the small apertures will be needed only for the deep of field exigeances, not for an improvement of resolution.
Maybe only the APO Elmarit from LEICA R can fight with this lens and the result is absolutely not sure

Strength:

Almost no light fall-off at f/2.8! In this sense this lens is much much better than the Nikkor 80-200/2.8.

Weakness:

None

A 105/2.8 micro and this lens are a super substitution for the 80-200/2.8 zoom: better image quality with micro ability.

Strength:

One word: Awesome!!! I am convinced this lens is even sharper than the 80-200mm f2.8D zooms. It performs very well wide open, though you have almost no depth of field (perfect for portraits). Together with my Nikkor AF 80mm f/1.4D they're the most used and loved lenses.

Weakness:

Lacking a tripod collar. I've resorted to Bogen/Manfrotto's telephoto support Mod. 3420.

This is a "must buy" if you want to experience what a good lens is capable of producing in 35mm photography.

Customer Service

I've never had to use them for any of my Nikkor lenses or bodies! Excellent craftsmenship or luck? I beleive the former.

Strength:

About as sharp as 35mm gets. Not to Heavy, not too light.
Fabulous picture quality in all areas.

Weakness:

No tripod mount.

Definitely sharper and more accurate than the Nikon 80-200 f2.8. Nice build, good flare control, very sharp full open.
Some of the sharpest shots I've taken are at f4. stopping past f5.6 doesn't improve quality.
Brilliant qualty lens at a reasonable price.
Not so easy on a monopod due to lack of balanced tripod mount.

Strength:

A lightweight sharp lens

Weakness:

Lack of SWM

This is a very sharp lens which I have used alot on trips. The Leica 180/2.8 is sharper but is much more expensive. The value for the Nikon is very good.

The only drawback with the lens is the lack of silent wave motor (SWM).

Strength:

Light, sharp, no distortion, beautiful colors and bokeh. At all apertures.

Weakness:

No tripod mount.

This is my favorite lens, even though I don't carry it with me everywhere because it doesn't have the flexibility of a zoom. It is better than any lens I have ever tried. I wish it had a tripod mount, but it is so good I don't mind too much.

Customer Service

Not needed on any products, although they did send me my rebate promptly.
