Strength:
Extremely fine grain. Good sharpness in comparison with other 100 ISO slide films.
Weakness:
Lower colour saturation than Velvia, Provia 100 and Ektachrome 100 VS. Extremly fine grain does not translate into higher sharpness. Like many others, I hoped that Provia 100F would be the 100 ISO Velvia, but in my opinion it is not. It does not have the velvet color saturation of Velvia nor its high sharpness. I find both aspects very important for my outdoor photography. In comparison with its 100 ISO competitors, the fine (virtually absent) grain gives it an edge, but I don't find that it is that much sharper than the Kodak Ektachrome 100 VS. So, I have decided to stick to the latter if I need higher speed, because I prefer its higher saturation for outdoor photography. In general though, an excellent film. Strength:
Incredible sharpness; pleasent saturation (not overkill like Velvia can); excellent detail in shadows, due to good contrast; decent price - costs less than equivalent 100 ISO Kodak consumer grade film! (Do note: in Switzerland).
Weakness:
After 17 rolls of the stuff, I still haven't found any weaknesses which are present in this emulsion. Incredibly sharp film, at a decent price! This film certainly proved itself when I was in Tanzania, and I'll make sure to stick some more rolls in my freezer... Similar Products Used: Most current Kodak transparency films, and most Fuji transparency films (especially Sensia I+II and Velvia). |

Strength:
Very fine grain
Weakness:
Maybe a bit pricey, but it is a pro emulsion i guess. The best slide fim i've ever used. Seems to be as fine grained as K25 (i couldnt believe it either!) its colour rendition is much more natural than velvia and more vibrant than either of the kodachromes. I can see this being almost the idea slide film! Customer Service n/a Similar Products Used: Velvia, K25,K64 Sensia & Elitechrome |

Strength:
Extremely fine grain. Good color rendition.
Weakness:
Not as saturated as Velvia, but that's not always a bad thing. This is an excellent film with minute grain structure. One can make very good enlargements with minimal grain showing. Excellent for use in Cibachrome printing. Customer Service Not needed. Similar Products Used: Velvia, 100VS, a bunch of others. |

PROVIA 100F (RDPIII)
Strength:
Nice colors, Can be pushed to EL400 if need be, fine grain
Weakness:
Exposure has to be spot on, 1/3 of a stop out and it shifts color. It's a lovely film that gives me the extra speed when needed on our dull days here in Melbourne. It is very exacting on exposure and shifts color easily but that aside it is a very nice film Customer Service Why Similar Products Used: I only use Velvia and Provia |

Nice colours and great adaption to natural light.
Weakness:
$$ and if you buy the medium format (like i did) it can be hard to find a projector. I have recently just shot 4 rolls of Provia 100F medium format and I couldnt be happier...as a student it is important for me to get results easily and there is not one frame that I cant use...I did have a few problems with a fluorecent light - i expected a greenish tint...instead i got a brown...uggh! No dissernable strengths if it's unusable!
Weakness:
In an attempt to 'neutralise' the colour balance in this film (Provia and especially Velvia are famous for their over enthusiastic warmth!), Fuji seem to have over done it! I shoot mainly interiors with natural and strobe light and get quite a green cast on walls. I have tested RDPII, RDPIII and EPP together with exactly the same lighting and subject (processed on the same rack even) and the results are even more noticeable (currently being evaluated by Fuji). What surprised me more was concrete in open sunshine and skintone under strobe also exhibiting the cast. It was suggested that I use filtration to remove the colour imbalance - bugger that! I'm no expert on the reasons for this problem, but I have shot about 10,000 rolls of RDPII and probably 100 rolls of RDPIII and now quite a number side-by-side and am desperately seeking out ALL remaining RDPII that I can find! I've read all the other reviews and I'm amused. Maybe here in Australia we get a different film, but myself and a number of other pro photographers have had nothing but problems with this emulsion and pleaded with Fuji locally to continue stocking the old RDP II for now until it's sorted out. If this makes me use Kodak film I'll be very dissapointed! Customer Service Could be better! Similar Products Used: RDP, RDPII, Velvia, Astia etc... |

Strength:
Amazing colors. Colors glow. You will look at your photos many times. Great color highlights on sunny mornings and afternoons. On cloudy days I have pushed about 20 rolls 1 stop and it performs perfectly....maybe better. Pulls ok too. Fill flash no problem. Have shot 50 rolls in the past 6 weeks and I'm sold on this film.
Weakness:
So so in middle of a sunny day. Expensive locally. Hot pink colors that fill the entire frame do not come out correctly. When hot pink color is just 1/3 to 1/2 of the photo things are ok. Pinks and reds reproduce true, however. Mail order the film for about $6.00. Expensive locally. Camera stores would sell more if it was not $12-15.00 retail! Similar Products Used: Velvia |
