Strength:
If you like being overpowered by blue, then blue...
Weakness:
Blue... Tried this goop a couple of times and I've got three words for you...blue, blue, blue... I really don't enjoy this pallette at all, it looks rather flat and washed out for my purposes. Two rolls was, two, too many for me, yuck. Customer Service I'd rather not... Similar Products Used: Everything in E6... |

Strength:
ISO 100 Fine Grain Does not exaggerate colours in warm conditions.
Weakness:
One dimensional in overcast conditions. Velvia better with greens, i.e. landscape. Ekta- and Kodachromes better with browns and greys. Astia superior whites. This film is a fine choice in sunny conditions. On overcast days, Velvia enlivens scenes and would be a better choice. Fine grain is all very well, but it is does not ensure superior sharpness. Sharpness is determined by minute graduations between neighboring colours, and there are far better choices films than Provia. Copes reasonably well with low-light shots. Better than Velvia in this respect, worse than Astia. Far better than Kodachrome 64! Similar Products Used: Dozens of slide films. |

Weakness:
shadow detail This film is great. There is very little grain and I have pushed it to 200 with excellent results. Colors are true, but shadow detail isn't as good as Velvia. I've used this for shooting wildlife and landscapes with excellent results in both areas. Customer Service N/A Similar Products Used: Velvia Kodak E100VS |

Strength:
very sharp
Weakness:
Blue cast to every frame. Expensive This film is sharp, but has a blue haze on every frame. Processed in Fuji, and Kodak chemicals with similar results. Avoid this film unless in extreamly warm light. Other wise it is unusable. Customer Service N/A Similar Products Used: Sensia 100 II, Kodak E100S, Velvia. |

Strength:
Tight grain Good color saturation and rendition Dependable
Weakness:
I haven't run across any For color rendition and saturation in an ISO 100 film, Provia is outstanding. I have shot this film in a variety of conditions and get consistent results every time. Contrasted areas are crisp. The grain is tight and can withstand enlargements well. I use this as my first choice of ISO 100 slide film, or when I might be handholding enough to make a tripod and Velvia too impractical for a certain excursion. Customer Service n/a |

Strength:
- Excellent sharpness and grain - Good contrast - not as extreme as Velvia and not as flat as some others - Excellent colour rendition - accurate and saturated. - Faster than Velvia so more suitable for hand-held use.
Weakness:
Expensive compared to eg Sensia 100 but if you buy it in packs of ten this is less of a problem. I've spent the last year trying out a range of different slide films (Fuji Sensia, Velvia, Provia, Kodak Elitechrome, Kodachrome) and for my purposes I think Provia gives me the best and most consistent results. First of all the sharpness and grain of this film are noticeably much better than other products I've used (with the possible exception of Velvia). But what I like most about this film is its contrast and colour rendition characteristics. While it gives quite punchy contrasty results, the contrast is noticeably less extreme than Velvia, which is too much for my tastes and it manages to preserve shadow and highlight details in a range of conditions. The shadow detail is noticeably better than Velvia. I think the colours are good - they are saturated but not as super-saturated as Kodak Elitechrome Extracolour 100 or Fuji Velvia which are both over saturated for my tastes - particularly the former which can be down right garish at times. I think its colours are less warm than Velvia but to me this is not a problem. I have always found Provia's colour rendition to be highly accurate and saturated without being unrealistic. I believe this is the best type of film overall for my purposes (mainly outdoor shots of architecture, cityscapes and landscapes). I intend to make it my main film type in future. Strength:
The grain is micro micro fine, saturated colors...but not over the top.
Weakness:
The color palette is slightly cool...not a problem if you are aware of it. Well...I agree! This is an excellent slide film! As always the Fuji greens are wonderful. I found the film to be a little on the cool side...not as warm as Velvia. But with a warming filter it looked outstanding!!! The grain is so very very fine also. Without a doubt...the finest grain I've ever seen in a slide film. Although I don't think it has quite the sharpness or resolution of Velvia. But it's very close. The skin tones were nice and "healthy looking," and the contrast was less extreme than Velvia. Overall a great film...but I'll probably stick with Kodachromes for people, and Velvia for landscapes. Strength:
Sharpness, accurate colour
Weakness:
nothing overwhelming As an industrial photographer I cover a wide variety of subjects. Previously, I used a number of different films to meet my shooting requirements. I wanted a single transparency film that would do it all. Provia 100 is the closest I've found. The granularity is excellent and colour balance is ideal for my needs (not too saturated with excellent skin tones) Similar Products Used: Kodak EPR,EPP, E100S Agfachrome RSX Fujichrome Velvia |
