Strength:
Easily available, ISO 400 without the grain penalty, good color and contrast, very good for scanning. The resolution is excellent.
Weakness:
Compared to digital ISO 400, the sky will show grain. Needless to say, I am very pleasantly suprised with the results I am getting from 400UC used on a Nikon F100. While everything on the web says otherwise, I am getting better resolution from the F100/400UC/28-105 combo than I am from my D70s/18-70 kit lens/200 ISO. Check these links:

Would be great, IMHO, for most if not all photographic opportunities or assignments. Have recently been told by personnel from B & H PhotoVideo in New York that Kodak is now out of the film manufacturing business. I hope this is not the case. I believe more than one major film manufacturer is good or competition and R & D.
Weakness:
None that I can think of. I have had the opportuity to use this film on several occasions, and have to say that I'm very pleased with the results. Color rendition is beautiful. I wouldn't hesitate to use this film for any purposes. Customer Service Have not had to use. Similar Products Used: At one time or another, all varieties from different manufacturers. |

Good colors Packs awsome colors. Barely any grain visible. To me this film has better colors then the Portra family. |

Color reproduction Sharpness Fine grain After using digital for my first 6 months of photography, I started looking to film. My first purchase was a trial roll of Kodak UC400, and I was very impressed. The color on the prints match exactly what my eye saw. In fact, some of the first test shots were one at home with everyday objects, just to compare the colors after. True, the colors really have punch, but do not seem overdone by any means. As mentioned by the manufacturers description, the saturation does not effect skintones whatsoever. The grain in this film is extremely fine, and it holds detail very well. I am in the process of testing some Superia now, but feel that Kodak UC400 will be my main color film after that. |

Strength:
Exposures are very predictable. Nice colors where they are needed.
Weakness:
Way too grainy when scanned. Expensive. I have been using this film before they changed the name to current Ultra Color 400. I thought this film was okay or pretty darn good but gradually realized that it is too grainy than Fuji Press 800 or NPZ 800. Saturated colors are expected since its label already shows it will saturate colors. Customer Service Honestly, how many people call the film companies?? Excellent caucasian skin tones. Vibrant colours Fine grain.
Weakness:
None. Outstanding caucasian skin tones in natural and flash light. Vibrant but natural colours. Straightforward to scan, with no noticeable grain when exposed at 320. It is quite similar to Fuji NPH but perhaps slightly more saturated and appears less grainy when scanned. My general purpose print film of choice- a film to rely on. I believe it has now been replaced by Elite Color 400 in the UK. Similar Products Used: Fuji NPH |

I used this film primarily shooting a biker rally in my hometown. Everything from candids to panning speeding motorcycle. I thought I struck gold with a few large purchases of Fuji Superia 100-800 but when compared side by side to Kodak it's no contest. Pay the extra money, it's certainly worth it. Shot about 20 rolls of Polaroid, Fuji, and Kodak, and I will use this whenever possible. Next test will be against Fuji pro film.... |
