Nikon Pronea S APS

Nikon Pronea S APS

DESCRIPTION

The technology of a serious camera. The spontaneity of a point-and-shoot. Now you don't have to choose between the two. The Nikon Pronea S is the best of both worlds. Serious camera technology. Compact size. Three picture formats. Interchangeable zoom lenses. At 16 ounces, it's one of the biggest things to happen to picture taking.

Strength:

My first APS camera. I haven't had any problems with it. It is not a professional camera like the Nikon F4 or F5, etc. For its size and ability to use the other Nikkor lenses, I think it does any excellent job. It beats the other point and shoot cameras. One limitation is the lack of a hot shoe. Is pricey.

Weakness:

None

Excellent APS camera. Versatile being able to use all the Nikkor interchangeable lenses.

Strength:

An excellent quality camera..very light, smooth operation, quiet shutter

Weakness:

The jury is still out on the APS system and its negative size. Quality of print does not measure up to 35mm

Stick with a good 35mm!

Strength:

Light weight, looks good!

Weakness:

I seem to get inconsistent results with the quality of prints (lack of detail and blurry). I have tried a variety of labs and that does not seem to be the problem. Am still working on this.

If I had the chance to try it before I bought it, I would NOT have bought it. Anyone want to make an offer?

Strength:

It's small size and mid roll change made the camera seem attractive

Weakness:

When the camera worked it worked fine. Picture quality was very good, approaching 35mm, when viewed up to an 8 X 10.

Great Camera if it works, the shooting options are easy to use and work well. The lenses are sharp and focused quickly. Mid roll change is a great advantage.

Customer Service

The camera died twice at critical moments and was finally put to rest.

Size, huge range on lens

Weakness:

Bad Film take-up fixed under warranty

The quality of the photos are inconsistent--sometimes great, sometimes disappointing. Ultimately this camera's benefit is its light weight and nice ergonomics.

Strength:

Very light, easy to carry, extremely smooth shutter, quiet, a ver ywell made camera

Weakness:

Photos are mediocre in sharpness and grain. I attribute this more to the size of the APS negative than to the camera. I have used other APS cameras and the images are no better.

Save your money and buy another body for your SLR..OR buy a good point and shoot 35mm. I already own the original Olympus Stylus and it's images fat surpass the Pronea S. I am going to purchase the Olympus Epic Zoom 80 w/panoramic becuase I want the ability to zoom and frame my shots better.

Strength:

Nothing, this is not what I expected from NIKON. They have gone way down hill

Weakness:

Exposure all wrong, does not focus right, flash is one of the worst. This is a piece of junk. It takes a longggg
time to focus and at times it won't focus at all with the flash on and when the subject and background are of a similar color.

Do NOT buy this! You will not be happy!!!!!

Customer Service

They are giving me a real runaround. They say the camera works fine. I have a lot of GOOD NIKON equipment, this is a piece of junk.

Strength:

I bought it as a convenient travel camera, and boy is it light.

Weakness:

The dinky 30-60 zoom which comes with it is not good enough both in range and picture quality. I had to substitute it with a AF-Nikkor 28-200 zoom 3.5-5.6 and now it looks weird with the small body and huge 72mm lens! But anyway, works very well now.

Inbuilt flash has a problem with fat lenses like the 28-200 as the flash light WILL hit the edge of the lens causing underexposure for short object distances.

Very convenient camera with great features for the price. Great as a travel camera, very good image quality with the standard lens, much better with any of the AF Nikkors.

Customer Service

Never had to find out.

Allows the end user to select between automatic and manual. If you want to adjust the shutter speed or aperture you can, or you can let the camera do it for you!

It is light weight but very professional.

Very versatile camera - good for beginners and even better for those who want to learn more about cameras and photography!

Weakness:

No problems at all!

Great camera!
