Strength:

Very well made, very compact, easy to carry, particularly with the belt case distributed by Nikon, very quiet shutter, smooth operation throughout

Weakness:

Photos do not compare the 35mm. I attribute this to the format and not to the camera. Other APS cameras that I have used produce no better results, very overpriced.

Buy a good miniature point and shoot 35mm zoom instead. I am getting an Olympus Stylus Epic Zoom 80

Strength:

Solid build, easy to use, many features. The steel coverage gives a good protection. It is a very small camera to have it with you in your pocket.

Weakness:

I made 140 photos during my holidays with this camera. I was disappointed of the relatively poor sharpness of the pictures and the poor flash capacity. I tried afterwards a Canon Ixus II, which produced significant sharper pictures with better flash-capacities. I gave back the Nuvis S and took the Canon.

Good for snapshots, but not very sharp picutres.

Strength:

I am very happy xith the overall performance.
Pictures are amazingly sharp for APS, and colors are warm. The exposure system works very well, and the autoflash feature performs great even in the smallest backlit situation.

Weakness:

Some controls on the back of he camera are
very small.

Great camera, very well built. The zoom lens
delivers very sharp pictures at any focal lenght.

Strength:

Great body design. It's very compact and sleek. The stainless steel cover slides open and acts like a shell to protect the lens and all the interior components. Very nifty camera if you do a lot of outdoor/water shots. I took it on a kayaking trip with me to Alaska, and the sliding cover worked great, in conjuction with an OP/TECH neoprene cover. The camera is so small I can actually clip the camera onto my belt or hang it around my neck and not feel annoyed by it. Also, another impressive feature is it's mid-roll change ability, which sadly, not all APS cameras support. (It does drain the battery quite a bit though.)

Weakness:

The 9 rolls of pictures I got back were not as sharp as I was expecting for a $279 camera. In fact, my old Olympus Stylus Zoom 105 seems to take slightly sharper pictures. I'm not sure right now. This APS format is relatively new to me, and perhaps it was the film, or perhaps it was developing and printing process. The jury is still out on this camera; I'll have to try some more shots with different types of film and lighting conditions.

The lens is not the fastest in the world by any means: f/5.2-7.5 for a 22.5-66mm zoom. So that's definitely a contributing factor.

A solid camera that you can comfortably carry around in your pocket or on your belt. Takes great portrait snapshots with adequate lighting. Not recommended for indoor shots with poor lighting. The flash is relatively weak, but that goes form almost all sub-compact cameras.
