Great camera for people who has difficulty with vision (like I do). I could never focus sufficiently with any rangfinder. The Nikon N60 can focus for you even in a very dark situation. The Nikon N60 has an aid light that can help you focus in a total darknees. I mean total. I did some experementation such as shooting my boots in a total darknees. The aid light lit the object (my boots)for a fraction of second and then it shoots. When I got prints from the lab I was amazed as how good and sharp Autofocus worked in a total darkness. As for manual lovers the Nikon N60 has manual overdrive, so I don't see any hard time for proffesionals who want to shoot in Manual mode
Weakness:
The Autofocus is very strong at vertical lines. However, it is not as strong at horizontal. It is almost impossible for camera to focus (I mean Autofocus)at say, at plastic siding that has lines runnin parrallel each other horisontaly. You though, can fool camera by turning it (camera body) perpendicular to these lines and Autofocusing in a such manner. I would recomend this camera to anyone like me, who are moving from point and shoot camera into world of SLR. As for Aid light, no camera (exept N80)of Nikon has it. You can really focus in dark with this feature, no kidding. Customer Service Didn't need yet. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Solid Nikon quality. Larger body than Canon Rebel and doesn't feel like a toy. Metal film guide rails and lens mount. Checked Minolta and Rebel for these quality features and Nikon was the only one who had them.
Weakness:
No depth of field preview. No cable release outlet. lacking the Rebel 2000's ablity to bracket exposures. I have enjoyed the camera (Owned for 13 months now). It was my first step up from my Minolta X700 which served me well for 16 years. If I had more money when I purchased this camera, I would have bought the N70 although, I would absolutely purchase the N80 now. The N60 is a fine camera if you like Nikon products. If you're new to photography this is a perfect camera for you. If you have to have Canon products then by the Rebel. I prefer the Nikon N60 because it didn't feel like a toy in my hand. If you buy this camera "spring" for the 28-80mm lens instead of the 35-80mm. It is much better. If you can really go for it, "spring for a 24-120mm or comparable lens. You won't be sorry! Otherwise you will be purchasing more lens' in the future and spending more money than you have to. I have a Tamron 70-300mm LD Macro. I love this set up with the N60. I have taken some amazing portraits of flowers. Customer Service Not needed, it's a Nikon! Similar Products Used: None |

Powerful quick camera, built in flash, nice grip and look. Strong metal lens mount.
Weakness:
lack of pc port and double exposure, first set of batteries died within 8 rolls of film, though I tested many of the features with out any film loaded. Autofocus is weak in low light situations. Incamera info is sometimes difficult to work while adjusting exposure level. It's a wondeful camera as a fully automatic SLR camera. Can't do many photographic tricks with it. No double exposure, though how many people actually use it? Needs a pc port for slave units, but adapters are available that attach to the hot shoe. Sturdy body, made it though a pretty tough fall, and is still working perfectly. Perfect camera for the price. Customer Service Never tried Similar Products Used: Canon Rebel 2000 |

Strength:
NIKON quality, with a great number of lenses available. Unfortunately none of my F series manual ones will work though. Feels solid and fits my hand - I'm big @6'4" - nicely. Great travel camera as it seems to be very rugged.
Weakness:
The fact that I can't adjust with pushing/pulling the film speed bothers as does the fact that there is no cable release. The owners' manual is a little confusing and out of sequence. For me, at present, it will be my travel camera along with my point and shoot. The F2 will remain home holding down the shelf with its 5# load and be saved for those times when my creativeness need comes out. The N60QD has delivered great pictures in all the modes tried, but leaves me feeling like there are adjustments to be made and knobs to be twisted. Good primary camera for someone who wants something better than a P&S and a good secondary camera for the more advanced amateur or pro. Program modes work expertly. Manual mode is great for students and amatures. The N60 is an excellent way to get into the Nikon line and start building your collection of lenses!
Weakness:
No cable release. No auto bracketing. The N60 is a great camera for all situations. I get a lot of shots that I would miss with my all manual camera, and I can still do all manual mode when I want to. A serious amature will be better off with the N80 which has a cable release and exposure bracketing. If you want to get into an SLR, you can't beat the N60 for the price! autofocus is a little slow on some settings, no cable release(used timer) A good camera to start w/, lots of features for the price. Solidly built, inexpensive with ability to use many fine lenses. You must face the fact that the lense is the most important part of any camera.
Weakness:
No cable release capability, Auto-bracketing, or multiple exposure control. This is a very good camera. I have shot +/- 80 rolls of film in the year I have owned it. It has given me exellent results and poor results. I belive that mostly it was my lack of care when the pictures turned out poor. I have taken some of the best pictures yet with this camera. Many delight and amaze my friends and Co-workers. If I had the money and choice I would buy the N80 although the N60 is more than enough for most users. no film speed adjustment This camera is a great introduction to Nikon. It enablels the user to have access to the fine Nikkor lenses. The lack of bells and whistles is a real plus to me. Although the automatic programming is adequate. 3D matrix metering is superb! Similar Products Used: Pentax ZX-M |

A solid, entry level camera in the Nikon family. It has great, built-in flash and plenty of options for the novice photographer to explore. It has a great viewfinder, with diopter adjustment, and other, stonger diopter windows available for the visually restricted. I find that I can clearly and quickly find my target whether I leave my glasses on or not. This thing is reliable and versatile and will produce excellent shots for anyone tired of trusting point and shoots. It also has a bit more heft than its competitors. And with its ergonomic design, it allows me to take good shots at slower speeds. The manual is actually pretty good, no doubt thanks to the countless numbers who have preceeded me. I thank you here:)
Weakness:
None I have to give the N60 top marks. If you're comparing apples to apples, the N60 does everything the competition does as well or better. Is it an end-all camera? Of course not. But it could serve the casual photographer for a lifetime. I've read many reviews where pros will use the N60 or N70 as a secondary accessory, delighted with it's functionality. This is the Toyota Camry of cameras. Might you, after having mastered all it's abilities, become dissatisfied with it's limitations? Perhaps. But ask any photographer if the novice should consider this camera (to avoid going down yet another deadend), and my guess would be that they would say 'yes', wishing all the while that they had been as smart.
