Strength:

See "Review Summary" above.

Weakness:

Even though the F5 focuses fabulously in low light situations, the photographer should have the option of lighting up the actual focusing areas within viewfinder rather than looking at the lights on the top and right side of the viewfinder area. As it is, it is difficult to see with dark subjects or during low light. My only complaint.

AF is fast, quiet and accurate. Following a moving subject is a breeze. Metering is excellent. The F5 has just about every feature one needs. I can use my manual Nikkors with this camera. It's rugged. It looks good. It feels good. I can't think of another 35mm SLR I would take over the Nikon F5. Coupled with the Nikon SB28 and a current "D" lens, it can't be beat.

Customer Service

For answering questions,...excellent.
Never had to use otherwise.

Strength:

I've owned Nikon equipment for 30 years and this camera body simply rocks! It is solid, versatile and delivers what it says it can deliver. Ergonomically it fits the hand very well which is important given its weight.

Weakness:

None. Use lithium batteries to overcome the one shortcoming I can think of.

This camera body is the Rolls Royce of camera bodies. It helps to make better photographs.

Customer Service

No need as the camera has performed perfectly.

Strength:

*Very Fast
*Solid as a rock
*terrific metering
*5 focusing regions

Weakness:

none worth mentioning

Simply the best you can get. Fast. Durable. 8 frame/sec. firing rate. the best metering out there. I always buy nikon bodies because the are the best. You can get by with other lenses but buy nikon bodies. You always have to shell out the bucks to buy thes best. However, only buy this lens if photography is your job because the N70 is fine for the person who wants a good camera to take on vacation. The bottom line is this: Nikons are the best camera bodies out there and the F5 is the best nikon out there.

Strength:

Great metering, fast autofocus, good balance in the hand (albeit heavy) plus I can still use all my old lenses with it!

Weakness:

bloody heavy!!!!!!

As a Nikon user for over 15 years this camera is the most refined yet. It is big and bulky but it balances nicely in the hand and really delivers brilliant results. The nice thing is that it was easy to get to grips with initially but has so many added features, you can take advantage of many new picture taking opportunities with less of a failure rate. I like the 'silent wind on mode' and the spot and matrix metering. With the advent of so much new technology and extra 'bells and whistles'being added to cameras my feeling is that if you can't take it with an F5 then you might as well give up. Well done Nikon

Strength:

Rugged, dependable, versatile and accurate. A real pro body.

Weakness:

The F5 could lose some weight and cut down on its ravenous hunger for batteries.

Shifting from Canon systems to Nikon is perhaps the best move I made in this profession. Canon may be more revolutionary but Nikon is indeed more dependable.

Customer Service

Excellent. In the sense that I haven't needed one since purchasing this unit a few years back.

Strength:

Most versatile and reliable camera I have ever used.

Weakness:

Uses AA batteries extremely rapidly, less than 20 rolls per 8 battery set (Alkaline Ultra). Lithiuym batteries are better but at high cost:2.25 each(x8)

Great camera, but must carry extra batteries in field and be prepared to use them. This could be a major problem, backpacking or travelling, especially overseas.

Strength:

Nice looking and look professional.Good Auto focusing meter.

Weakness:

Heavy and slow. Battery consuming

The Nikon F5 is too expensive compare to the Eos3 since the two of them have similar function. The F5 is very heavy and it is battery consuming, you will need to have a battery pack with you and do not depend on those alkaline battery. With the extra weight, it is very difficult to take photograph. Most importantly, the Nikon F5 's focusing speed is not as fast as the Eos3 therefore the price is not worth it comparing it to the canon Eos3.

Strength:

The F5 metering, ease-of-use controls and the superb AF lets me focus on the subjects/motives rather on the camera itself and the results have been the best I have ever been able to accomplish with 35mm.

Weakness:

Fairly power hungry and you likely want to get some MN-30 accumulator packs and the MH-30 charger, rather than trying to survive on batteries only.

The weight ain't such an issue (I thought it would be before I got the camera). The camera is in a steady grip thanks to the rubber surface and vertical shots are really easy.
This body is great fun and for sure a long lasting friend. I can truly recommend this body to anyone being a serious amateur - you'll likely fall in love :-)

Strength:

Fast AF, dead-on metering, solid.

Weakness:

I need a backup body but don't want anything other than the F5

I've had many cameras in the past and nothing compares to the feel of the F5. It's solid but easy to hold body. In avaiation photography, I need the 8fps and the F5 delivers with fast-AF and perfect exp. everytime.
