Strength:

Strurdy, good auto focus, built in flash, good metering, ease of use

Weakness:

a little noisey, auto focus could be a little faster.

A very good camera for all except the high end professionals. A classic camera that was built and designed to last for many years. A very easy and fun to use camera.

Strength:

versatile
great picture quality

Weakness:

has broken several times -- the flash currently does not work, plus I've had problems with the exposure meter. Also, it's very heavy.

All in all, the camera has been a good one. It takes beautiful pictures. I mostly use the aperture priority and would love to have a depth of field preview. I question, though, how well built it is, given the number of times I've had it in the shop.

Strength:

Lots of features, Matrix, centred, or spot metering, strong construction, lots of available lenses, built in flash, can still use mechanical plunger.

Weakness:

Noisey motor drive, noisey film rewind and a little slow compared to speed film rewind of the F70. Built in flash causes red eye and limited distance range, no slave plug, the camera is on the heavy side. Beware of the ones made in Thailand, it should say on the bottom of the camera. No LCD backlight for night time use.

Lots of features for the money, strong construction, good camera for beginners or intermediates, will be my back up camera when I
purchase the F90.

I have a lot of MF lens and the 6006 is the best transition body before I switch to the newer AF body. I love that bulit in flash.

Strength:

Matrix metering, tight spot metering, solid mount, it has never let me down. small but helpful built in flash.

Weakness:

Battery is expensive and it pass away verry quickly-15 rols or less.

I buyed it from a friend and I find it very useful camera for me. It havynes is a + for me because it prevent any shake. Autofocus is litle beat slow but I don't make sport photography.

Strength:

Really good HD body, spot meter,
good flash capability, uses mechanical
cord for remote release, meters with
MF AIS lenses

Weakness:

Noisy, mirror slap, no mirror lock up,
AF can be slow

Lots of people pan this camera. I was in the market for an AF to supplment my MF gear.
Was going to get an F-100, but way, way, way too expensive. Was going to get an N-80,
but it makes obsolete my very good collection of AIS lenses. A friend lent my his
N-6006 - guess what? It AF fairly quick (contradicting a lot of reviewers), its flash
capabilities were tops, and I made a $200 investment (as opposed to $l,000+) going to
a new AF plus lenses. OK, I know the one I have is 5 yrs. old, but it more than serves
my purpose as an occasional AF quick shot. For potrait/professional/publication work
I use the FE2/FM2n on a tripod with all the time in the world for composition. But for a
good indigenous market/ceremony shot in the Maya world (where I do much of my work) I think the 6006 is tops. It's a good sturdy camera, takes good shots, and didn't
break the bank. No, it can't compare in technology to a new F-100 or even N-80, but
that isn't its function. For a good strudy backup I don't think it can be beat. I give it
a 5.

Find one of these guys cheap, and start taking pictures.

Does not take AA's

I just sold this camera yesterday after owning it for 9 yrs. This camera has traveled around the globe with me and has taken thousands of pictures. This has been one great camera. I can not say enough good things about it!

The only thing that has ever broke was one of the notches in the back door where you load the film. I took it to a local store and they replaced it for $35.

For the folks that think this camera eats batts, I have not experenced this. I bought a new batt about every 6 months. About the same as my f100. (I probly average 2-3 rolls a week)

I never thought the focusing was very slow but I have always shot with good lenes (i.e. nikor 80-200 2.8) I think that makes a difference... I worked for a local paper for several years and never had much of a problem getting good action shots.

Last year I upgraded to a f100 and kept this as my backup. However I found I did not really have a need for a backup so I sold it.

I would recomend this camera to anyone that is thinking about it. It is a great learning camera, and is fairly rugged. This camera will take just about any picture you want!

For me this camera has paid for itself many times over!

Customer Service

Good experence turned around my e-mail in 2 days. Helped me to find a local camera store to replace the broken back.

Strength:

Price, quality, built, feel, funtions, features.

Weakness:

Noice, can't use AA battery, no vectical grip.

I have been a Canon EOS user ever since they come out. Today, I still think they are better than Nikon. However, owning a Nikon is a whole new experince. Is is very different. I love it so much for some reason even though is noice and focus is not as fast as Canon (not including F5). The 6006 feel good in my hand, got all the funstions I need and can use older Nikon lens (AI and AIS), take great picture. I use it for mostly landscarp work and is very nice. The MF lens are lot cheaper then AF equaliant so I can get more prime lens in different range. I found myself holding the camera a lot even not taking picture. Is like a really nice toy for a big girl. Wish the newer Nikon built like this one. They don't feel as nice for some reason.
