Strength:
Good feature set
Weakness:
Too small for people with large hands This is a nice beginner camera. The full range of Canon lenses means that you can get some great shots with this body. I ended up going with the Nikon N60 because I am 6'4" with big hands and the Rebel 2000 felt a little lost in my hands and I'm not sure of the build quality, lots of plastic here but it still is a great camera for the price. Strength:
Light weight/great intro camera with lots of features I can "grow" into.
Weakness:
Kind of small, but I knew this going in, so I took other peolpes' advice and bought the battery pack. Works great and helps with my larger hands Great intro camera at a great price. It takes great pictures and lets me do what I want to do when I want to do it! May upgrade later but will keep this light weight camera with me for trips. Customer Service Haven't needed it yet Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Easy to use interface, Clear and vibrant results.
Weakness:
Annoying flash feature for auto focus at low light levels. I paid a little bet extra for the EOS300 and so far have not been disapointed. The light weight and smaller size of the camera (compared to others which a tried at lots of shops)make it the best buy for travelers such as myself. P.S my rating my be a little bit bias due to the amount of money I have spent on the camera. Great buy. More features than you really need.
Weakness:
Battery window. This camera is great. I love the feel of it in my hand and it seems to take awesome pictures, just as long as you have them developed properly. This is the first camera i could tell a differencfe in film. Similar Products Used: Nikon |

Strength:
Very lightweight
Weakness:
Can be a little too small when you have a largeish lens and flash. With my 28-105 and 380EX on it, the body feels tiny. Bottom line? Great camera for a beginner. Loads of features that you can grow into. The light weight is great, especially when you're travelling light. Customer Service Not used. Similar Products Used: Nikon F60 - felt nice, but not enough features and too many incompatabilities with other Nikon products. |

Strength:
weight, price, plenty of features to grow into as you progress
Weakness:
slow fps advance if you're into action shots This camera has been my entry into photography as a hobby. I considered the Nikon N60 as well as Minolta's HTSi. Weight concerns beat the Nikon and the Minolta has no remote cord option. Its great to be able to apply things learned from books, mags, other photographers, etc. without realizing "If only my camera had this feature...". As for durability concerns by other reviewers, I've had it for 8 months, shot 80+ rolls, done two trips in South Asia, including a cycle tour through Tibet and have had no mechanical difficulties at all. Will continue to upgrade lenses as I get better, but I'd only replace the camera if it got lost/stolen (yikes!). Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Controls are relatively intuitive; a beginner can pick this up and start taking acceptable pictures with minimal practice; "advanced" features easy to access; auto-bracketing is a nice touch at this price point; ergonomics are nice (for my hands at least)
Weakness:
have had some auto-focus difficulties in low light situations, the focus-assist mode from the flash doesn't seem to assist much Excellent buy for the beginner looking to get serious Customer Service N/A Similar Products Used: Nikon N60 |

Easy to use in auto mode.
Weakness:
Flash mechanics. The flash does fit kind of cheaply when closed. A small spring loaded "L" hook grabs the flash hood. Not very tight to the body. As a matter of fact when I went to purchase the camera I took it out of the box and tried it out at the store. the first one I tried and was going to walk away with, when I tried it the flash poped up as it is supposed to but then I couldn't get oit to close. The rep just gave me another camera which did not show this problem. I love the camera and have only taken 3 rolls of film so far. This is the perfect camera for me to learn with and allow my wife to use it, in automode though, she does not want to fumble with ap and shut settings and such. Some have mentioned that there is no Aperture Pri mode, but there is. Customer Service Not needed yet Similar Products Used: none that are comparible |

Seven Focus Points
Weakness:
Lots of fiddling with manual setting This is the first tim I've owned an Auto Focus SLR but it is not the first time I've used one. The Seven fucus points are a definate plus, especially with pictures that have people in the forground and scenery in the background (most travel shots). The focus points and the presets combined make for a powerful Auto Focus system. That is where you get your value, the amount of bells and whistles on this camera, you'd think it were an EOS 50! Strength:
This is my first SLR camera and it is excellent for a beginner. As I have started to use the camera I have gone from using all auto features to now having some manual intervention. I just returned from a safari and shot 11 rolls of beautiful photos. At first I was skeptical of the weight of the body (very light) but after traveling with it I am very glad it is light.
Weakness:
The fps is low for action shots. Very good camera for the price. It is very easy for a beginner to use with a lot of room for growth. I also purchased a Tamron 28:300 lens with the camera which I also highly recommend. Customer Service No need to use as of yet. Similar Products Used: Nikon F70 |
