Sony announced two new Cyber-shot digital cameras, the DSC-HX5V and DSC-TX7, that are the world’s first compact digital still cameras to include full HD (1920 x 1080 60i) Advanced Video Codec High Definition (AVCHD) video capability and are the smallest and thinnest AVCHD capable cameras.

The cameras feature in-camera Backlight Correction High Dynamic Range (HDR) feature for managing difficult lighting situations, TransferJet wireless technology for sharing, storing and viewing images, Sony’s “Exmor R” back illuminated CMOS sensor technology, 10fps burst shooting, Intelligent Sweep Panorama feature, iAuto, Optical SteadyShot image stabilization, Face Detection and Smile Shutter technology, high-quality movies with full HD video, stereo sound recording, in-camera multi-shot High Dynamic Range (HDR), and Picture Motion Browser (“PMB”) software for viewing, editing, organizing and uploading images to many major video and photo sharing Web sites.
The DSC-HX5V has a 10 megapixel “Exmor R” sensor, a 3-inch LCD screen, a 10x optical zoom with wide-angle 25mm-250mm equivalent high-quality G lens and is also the world’s first still camera to include GPS + Compass and Optical SteadyShot with Active Mode technologies.
The DSC-TX7 has 10 megapixels, a 3.5-inch (measured diagonally) high resolution (921K) touch LCD, a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 4x optical wide angle 25mm-100mm equivalent zoom lens, and is just under an inch thin.
The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX5V camera will be available in black this March for about $350, and the TX7 camera will be available in silver, blue and red this February for about $400.

These cameras look great. Especially the TX7 with it’s amazing slim looks. And finally Sony thanks for adding SD support. The only bad thing about these cams are the price (400 is steep) and the availability. I can’t wait till february to see the first sample shots come in!
