I honestly don’t know why anyone would buy this over the identical (save the badge) Panasonic LX-5 at nearly half the price!
Even D-lux5 is same specification as LX-5, Many people buy the red dot. D-lux5 is created for who remains lots of money. It’s not abnormal for richy person to buy it.
wrong……panasonic has only the camera….leica has 3 years warranty (50$) + Lightroom3(400$) + different menu (more easy to use) + different picture processing……;).
tchou is correct. Leica knows that they have to separate their camera from the Panasonic and they do. RAW performance is likely the same but the Leica JPEGs have less compression and use Leica’s own processing for much better image quality.
For more than $400 more it better come with a naked chick to give all night massages for the first year. Lightroom is under $300 and if you think the warranty is a big deal then you probably treat your gear pretty bad.
Side by side comparison of the photos from this and the LX5($399 at Amazon.com) show they are so close that ‘leica software processing’ is an advertisors term and not anything worth paying more for.
Let the cheezy dentists buy this one. Get the Panasonic and spend your other $400 on something you will use more than a dopey red dot.
RAW peformance is much better on the leica. Control menu is far better. Images are much crisper. And the wide angle is for real. Ieica’s a quality product. Panasonic’s literally a piece of plastic in comparison.
