G509 Tele Studex Giant Performance
Strength:
Massive. Well finished. Super strong and rigid. Rock solid. Extra tall extension. Flat center plate instead of column will get you to inches off the ground and support several extra pounds. Interchangeable center column. Wings on largest leg lock for easy grip. Cheaper than Linhof equivalent.
Weakness:
20 pounds is 20 pounds. All that rigidity and strength comes from its size,i.e., its mass. For really heavy loads or maximum vibration free support. Or when you need the height. Will hold a truck. I had no problem at all with 20+ lb view camera at extreme angles using the big low profile 5 series pan head. Only thing close is a big Reis or 20 Lb Linhof tripod. Next step up is a 300 lb studio stand. Customer Service Not needed Similar Products Used: Other Gitzo |

Strength:
Extreme rigidity.
Weakness:
no This is the monster of all tripods. Weighs about 20 lbs and including a geared long column it provides great flexibility, and height. It is a 5 section tripod, a giant when so wanted. Great, except......it is so heavy that it is best on the studio or in the field if no more than a few meters away from the car. Nothing beats shear mass. This is the tripod to use for comparing the performance of tripod accessories such as heads, quick fit adapters and camera shutter vibration, etc. With it I have learned that the other components including the lens mounts and lenses themselves can make a very rigid set up below, a not so rigid construction because of faults above. It is quite pricy. Customer Service not required Similar Products Used: Other Gitzo, Manfrotto, |
