Strength:
Relatively inexpensive, particulrly now its been out a while, and Epson seem to be focusing more on their 44" carriage 10000 series printers. The quality excellent. Although the droplet size is fixed at around 10 picolitres (compared with 4 or so for the latest printers with variable size droplet technology), I get smooth photographic prints at less than A4 size, if needed. Pro robustness, the ability to handle thick media without breaking into a sweat, high standard of construction, all make this a good value, professional-level tool for serious use. *The* printer of choice for professional black and white output using the Piezography24 professional software and ink system specially designed for it from inkjetmall.
Weakness:
Non-archival standard inks mean limited display life. New inks announced for the US market should increase display life. Third party inks can help solve this issue. An excellent large(ish) 24" wide format printer. I have printed exhibition prints from this printer that convey a scale and create an impact that smaller formats cannot achieve. It''s not a printer for everyone. You''ll get as good or (slightly) better prints from a small carriage Epson printer, but that is not the point. The point is those BIG prints!
