Professional
Strength:
Weight, zoom range at the short end, optical quality, size, no vignetting at all
Weakness:
Front lens element a bit sloppy, but does not affect image quality. Known from Canon 2,8/28-70L USM as well. A great lens with superb optical and mechanical quality. Meets quaility wise the other lenses for P645. Very light weight and small. Ideal for travel. Customer Service friendly and fast Similar Products Used: 45-85, 80-160, 5,6/300, 5,6/400 |

Casual
Strength:
Very useful zoom range for landscape shoots and unique zoom lens among the same class. Very good flare control, I purposely point at very strong light source eg. sun, no flare are found. Very sharp images and light in weight. AF speed is fast. Pricing is reasonable.
Weakness:
Smaller aperature compared with FA45/2.8 and 35/3.5 It is a very good combination with FA80-160mm, I just pack this two lens instead several prime lenses everytime when going out. 82mm filter is much acceptable compared with 95mm filter size of other similar lenses. The little window under lens hood is very useful to rotate CPL when lens hood is still fit on. I bought it in grey market at HK$8500 which is cheaper than the total price of FA45 and 35mm lenses. Of course, aperature is smaller than prime lenses, but it doesn't affect viewfinder brightness very much. The distortion after 40mm is significant, but vignetting is not significant even at 33mm.
