Strength:

Sharp, Wide Angle Coverage.

Weakness:

vignette with even one polarizer, I have to use slim edition of thread filters to go with this camera, unless vignetting is desired I wouldn't recommend use regular thread filters or stack filters together.

I mainly use this for landscape and sometimes for close ups because this camera can go as close as 5cm. Very sharp and very minimal distrotion at edge. ULD and floating lens elements design ensures best optical performance possible. One of my favourite.

Strength:

Extremly sharp optics, ULD lens design with floating lens element makes sharp center to edge images. Great close-up focus capability, focus as close as 1.6 inch!!! Gives amazing perspective.

Weakness:

Just a little bit heavy, F4.5 makes viewing/composing harder than faster lens.

By far the best wide angle lens I've every used.

Strength:

Highly versatile (as with all lens of this type), beautifully sharp, with rich tonal separation and barely noticable distortion. I'm still discovering tiny details from images I recently shot with this lens while I was in India.

Weakness:

None noted.

This is an absolutely superb lens. I simply have no negative comments. Sharpness is extremely good, so much so that galleries have commented without fail on the sharpness, contrast, and tonality of the resulting B&W immages, preferring them in some cases to those made with the comparable Hasselblad lens. Distortion is very minimal, when one bears in mind that some distortion is inevitable with any true wide angle lens. I would recommend this lens without reservations.

Strength:

Coverage.

Weakness:

See above when used with stacked filters.

This lens has yielded some super images. I use it for landscapes and almost always use a small aperture (f16 or less) with a tripod AND cable release. One problem I have is that the lens WILL vignette when used with a polarizer in a Cokin "P" mount. One can get around this by hand holding the filter against the front rim of the lens but then you will be minus 1 hand for camera operation. I often use more that 1 filter and then have to use the mount which then results in vignetting. A solution to this is then to use the 645 back which then results in a narrower effective field of view (why does life have to be this complicated ?). But all in all a fine lens. Also be sure to adjust the floating element each time you set up a shot.

Customer Service

Have not needed it.
