Strength:
Beautiful image wide open. Very sharp images, when closed up a little.
Weakness:
Expensive for a non-leaf lens. Sticky aperture if not used. Need 2000/200 series body to use. This is an excellent lens for portrait photography. There's a lot of controversy about using this F2.0 lens wide open. In other words, it's not very sharp wide open but the shallow depth of field is beautiful. Most people recommend closing it down to F5.6 for sharper images, but why pay this much for an F:2.0 lense to close it up? People buy this lens to shoot wide open. Also you'll need a Hasselblad body with focal plan shutter and NOT the leaf shutter popular in the Hasselblad line. The aperture wide open tends to stick if you don't jog is once in a while.... use your lense. It cost about $100 to fix in LA if it's stuck. Having the aperture stick is notorious for this lens. Strength:
FAST and easy to focus in dim light and it's incredibly SHARP.
Weakness:
For an expensive lens, Zeiss should really use engravings for the lens. The printed numbers look cheap and and the colors chosen are awful. This one lens is why the focal plane shutter Hasselblad camera is worth having! Customer Service I have had excellent service from the US distributor in Fairfield, NJ Similar Products Used: 150mm Sonnar |
