Great glass and mount
Weakness:
Price. Protection alone should be cheaper but this is a large filter. I own a 86mm B&W Multicoated UV Haze 010 filter. I use it on a telephoto lens mostly as protection in the field. I recommend this filter since the filter will not bind onto the lens threads and it is almost like air. Invisible. Plus, B&W makes filters in this size and larger. Cleans up beautifully. I've used B+W 010s in 49, 52, 62, and 77mm sizes. They are built like tanks.
Weakness:
Massively thick rings (in the standard grade). Wonderful filters, but boy do you pay for them! If you want an uncoated filter, a Tiffen will save you money; if you want a coated filter, a Hoya will save you money; if you want a multi-coated filter, a Nikon will cost about the same and have a thinner ring. Customer Service Not needed. Similar Products Used: Hoya, Tiffen, Nikon, a few Heliopans. |

I have three b + W mc uv filters for three of my lenses - 39, 55, 67 - I bought them mainly for protection and the best thing I can say about them is that you do not even know they are there. The build quality is superb compared to other filters I have tried. I would recommend the multi coated uv from b + w - also the slim size for wide angle lenses.
Weakness:
some may say they are expensive. I want to protect my glass but the last thing I want is to compromise it with a cheap filter. Usually when I am not moving around a lot I just take the filter off and shoot. Customer Service have not needed Similar Products Used: tiffen |

The (1999) price quoted is in Canadian currency before taxes.
Weakness:
1.0 Mono-coated means ghosting when lens is pointed towards points of light (i.e. Christmas lights). If you are a Nikkor user and you can afford this filter, you may as well save your money and spend the extra dollars on a Nikon filter. Customer Service Never tried for this product.
