the endless search for a decent inexpensive 300mm lens is over. After owning a canon 400mm L lens at one point ,its hard to ''dumb it down'' so to speak .all I want is a sharp image at 300mm not tac sharp 8 out of 10 sharpness is fine. Now I have owned a total of 4 canon 70 300mm lenes, all used but in very good shape. every one of them was soft at 300,so they where sold soon after they arrived.my camera is a canon T3i.here are the pro's light, compact. focus is satisfactory and the images are just sharp enough for me. 8 of 10 in good light ,because I do not shoot a lot of subject's from a distance im not going to get a top shelf zoom lens. Cons, poor saturation but that's an easy fix in post. considering the price that's it. got this lens used here on amazon for 65.00.i hope it lasts, its not the sturdiest lens I own. Weakness:

OK image quality
Weakness:
Slow focus. Focus searches for awhile to find point. Cheapy feeling/lightweight. Lens is very cheapy feeling. Image quality is OK. When focusing, the lens rattles and makes weird noises. I would recommend to save your money and get something a little better for a little more. But, if you don't have a little more and don't shoot a lot of pictures, this lens is cheap and good for the price. Customer Service Haven't used it. Similar Products Used: Canon EF-S 55-250mm IS |

Focal Length. Quality for the price.
Weakness:
300mm is not as close as what is really wanted. Not compatable with Sigma 2X Teleconverter. (However, it does work well with Kenko 2X teleconverter.) I used this lens at a SF Giants games and have gotten nice results (even from the upper view level). The Auto Focus tends to search a little in Low Light. Sometimes the edge of the photos can be kind of dark. Of course I was using a higher shutterspeed at a great distance in order to freeze the action. Under normal circumstances the pictures come out very nice. I got this lens included in a kit packaged with a Canon EOS Rebel Ti and a Sigma 28-80mm AF Mini Zoom Macro Lens. Total kit price was $299.95. At $140.00 this lens is a bargain. As in the other reviews this lens takes great pictures and is of good quality. This lens is excellent for sporting events. Still I eventually want to purchase the new 80-400mm EX APO Optical Stabalization AF Lens. However, we are talking about a Thousand Dollar lens. That is not a fair comparison. Again, for the price this lens is a bargain and it takes very good pictures. Customer Service Customer Service via email has been very helpful Similar Products Used: Canon EF 28-200mm AF USM. Strength:
Light, compact, good image quality, great zoom range. Easy to carry anywhere in an outdoor jacket pocket.
Weakness:
Slow at the 300mm end, plastic lens mount. I have used this lens to take a few hundred autumn (fall) images and it has been brilliant. Used on digital SLR at 400 ASA it has proved a real winner at a really cheap price (£89). It can hold its own against much more expensive (and bigger and heavier) 75-300's no problem. Great 4X6's Super cheap.
Weakness:
Very slow but who cares if you are working in the sun. I bought this lens new on Ebay when the asking bid was $45. and no one else bid. For $45. how can you go wrong? Every photo I have exposed with this lens on several different Nikon bodies have all been well worth the $45.I paid for the lens. How can I recommend a $45. lens? As long as you are useing fast print film you will get exelent results within a workable focal length. Buy one. Customer Service Non needed Similar Products Used: Just about every Nikon/Nikkor lens. |
