Strength:

Solid, smooth AF, compact and simple to use.

Weakness:

Seems to be softer at slose focus area. T6 close up lens will corect for it.

Great lens for all around shooting. Not super sharp. Close focusing can be done nicely with T 6 Nikon close up lens.

Customer Service

Never needed repair service for any of my Nikon equipment.

Strength:

This lens gives you a great range for the money.

Weakness:

The focus ring isn't so tight when focusing manually, but if you're using a good AF camera, it won't matter.

It's also heavy (compared to my 28 and 35-80) so I don't bring it unless I know I'm going to have the opportunity to use it.

You can spend as much money as you want on lenses, but this lens hits a sweet spot for 90 percent of the people out there.

Another big plus is its durability. I've taken it thousands of miles, in rain, sand, mud. It's banged on doorframes, bumped into bus seats and never complained, a good thing for a lens that tends to swing when around your neck.

Customer Service

Again, not needed.

Strength:

It's really sharp and crisp in the shorter zoom ranges compared to the sigma 70-300 that I tried before.

Weakness:

None

It's been a great lens except that it tends to lose it sharpness around full zoom. I think it's pretty good value for it's costs and quality.

Strength:

Solid build quality, non-slip zoom, smooth focussing and quality feel. Excellent results up to 135mm.Balances well on any Nikon body. Stands up to mistreatment well. Portable, excellent for portraits and landscape details, especially on the move outdoors.

Weakness:

Loses sharpness at long end, does not have the street cred of the monster 2.8 nor the focussing speed of the AFs. But who wants to lug the monsters about and try to hand hold them when using a tripod is impractical?

What more do you want for a handy well made lens which gives pleasing results if you are not super-critical and doing prints up to medium sizes (8x10+)?

Customer Service

Not necessary despite dropping the thing on a granite pavement.

Strength:

Solidly built and should last for ages, it also has a metal mount which should incerease it's lifespan and just feels nice.
Produces nicely balanced and sharp results upto about 180mm where they soften a bit but are still acceptable.

Weakness:

The push-pull zoom action can move itself slightly when held at an angle but mine was bought second hand so that could just be age.

So long as you buy this lens with realistic expectancies, ie not professional results, you will be happy.

Strength:

Very good built, good optical quality, very good contrast,

Weakness:

mayby too slow af, best result if stopped down to 8 ore more

This is very good amateur zoom, especially for this price. Very good for not wealthy amateur. If you are looking for better zoom, the next is 80-200/f2.8, I think. At the begining, push-pull zoom seems to be odd for beginner.

Strength:

Really good optical quality
Really good contrast and color saturation

Weakness:

The "zoom" thing moves...it just slides down, thats the worst about it, but I can handle it...

I was looking for a decent zoom for covering a championship. I didnt want to spend big bucks on it because I thought I'd only shoot that one and that I wasnt even going to use the zoom anymore.
I looked for the cheapest zoom from Nikon, i cant remember which one was but it was really cheap. I was going to use 3200 asa in b/w, so i really didnt care... But I went for a little more extra money and end up getting this one because of the good quality I read here got... I was surprised and now I cant stop shooting with this one...The colors I get are super, and the quality is good. What else could I ask for? Im not going to but the f2.8 one, I dont want to spend that much...Get this one with no doubt. The only bad thing is the zoom system, that slides down or up if you move it....but oh well, nothing is perfect.

Strength:

A solid lens, easy to focus manually. Inexpensive (I bought it as a college student)

Weakness:

Heavy
Not quite sharp enough
Slow (5.6 @210)

I don't like this lens anywhere except on a tripod. It is too slow for hand held slow speed films, it is heavy and unless I really need the 200mm focal length, I always prefer the 105macro. I would not buy it again if stolen.

Strength:

This lens is fairly lightweight and when not extended, is small. The build quality is much stronger than it seems and I have taken some sharp pictures with it. I like it.

Weakness:

I dropped my N90s and the lens to a concrete floor when a strap came loose. The filter had to be professionally removed and I had the lens checked. No problems at all---same as for the N90s. That is strong!

The lens is a good consumer lens. I will not match the 80-200 2.8 aperture for aperture but the photos and slides are crisp, sharp and contrasty. I replaced it with the 80-200 but have not had the actual heart to part with it so I use it often on a Pronea 6i.

Customer Service

Did a check up for free and lens was okay.
