Strength:

Nice range, very good definition at 24mm, great lens for traveling

Weakness:

Slightly soft at the long end.
Some body said this: Front element rotate when zooming so a cut corner hood cannot be made. The current hood is very thin and not very useful.

Great lens for traveling, very good contrast and sharpness, exept at 120 where sharpenss decreases a lot. Great minimum focusing distance.

big range, mostly for the wide end. Loses contrast at long end very quickly after 70mm- edges all soft.
wide end has noticable distortion.
A 'big' lense and it is pretty hefty, too- I
like a more normal fixed wide 20,28,or 35 or 24-50 and then get a decent 70-210 something or other. I don't understand why this lense gets all the hoopla even when better alternatives exist. This is why you have to make your own decisions through experience. It seems like a good competitor to the 3rd party wide range lenses- but then serious photographers don't go for these swiss army lenses.

'you CAN'T have your cake and eat it' lense

A sharp zoom with this range. Incredible for travel. Gives very nice 8x10 enlargements. Slow but relatively compact.
