    Strength:

Terrific sharpness and color reproduction, even at 200mm wide open at 30x40 cm enlargements. The circular apperture makes the difference (?) and the subject comes out so naturally from the background.
Beautifully designed and balances ideal with my Dynax 9. AF is also quite comprehensive and built quality is of'course the highest.

    Weakness:

    None

I am happy that I finally got this lens because it's plainly the best I could get. It is rather costly but the difference is obvious...

    Strength:

Build quality is excellent, fast AF with Maxxum 9, tripod collar, focus hold/fuction button. metal lens shade

    Weakness:

Rotating front element, Minolta teleconverters will not work with it

One sweet Minolta lens, all lens quality test rate this lens very well and it shows.

    Strength:

Exceptional sharpness that produces extremely high quality images in a rugged lense body.

    Weakness:

    none

Extremely sharp lense that produces highly saturated, contrast, vivid and true to life color images at any focal length and aperture. As Minolta claims, it's circular 9-blade aperture provides extremely smooth rendition of out-of-focus foregrounds or backgrounds. AF is very fast especially with my Maxxum 9 or even with my Maxxum 700si. This is truely an outstanding piece of lense that produces exceptional and distinct high quality images. I highly recommend this lense plus the Maxxum 28-70 2.8 G lense with Maxxum 9 and Maxxum 7 as your second body.

Model Reviewed: AF 80-200mm f/2.8 APO G Maxxum

    Strength:

Very sharp, with fairly fast AF. Well balanced and extremely well built.

    Weakness:

No IF and it has a rotating front element. Non-removable tripod mount makes it somewhat difficult to handhold until you get used to it. A bit expensive compared to competitors.

It's a sharp, fast focusing, and well built lens. It's somewhat heavy ~3 lbs but its balance makes handholding easy once you move the tripod mount around to the top of the lens. The rotating front element could be annoying for filter users, but since I rarely use filters on this type of lens, I haven't found it to be a problem. Build quality is exceptional.

    Customer Service

    Very Helpful.
