Strength:
Light weight Price Good optics 1:2 mag Fast autofocus
Weakness:
Construction slightly cool color I took me awhile to appreciate the strengths of this lens. It is sharp and has good resolution and contrast. I found the color to be slightly on the cool side. It produced excellent close up. I have not used it for other purposes yet because I prefer to use zoom in other situations. Customer Service None needed Similar Products Used: SMC-A 70-210 f/4.0 |

SMCP-FA 100mm f/3.5 Macro
Strength:
Sharp, contrasty, smooth operation, inexpensive.
Weakness:
The mount is a little unpolished. f3.5 isn't terribly fast. Maximum macro ratio of 1:2 (one half size). This lens is a very good value. It is sharp, generally well made, though I thought the mount should be smoother. It is about 1/3rd the price of Pentax's f2.8 100mm macro lens. Its drawback is that it is a 1:2 macro, not 1:1, and it is f3.5 rather than 2.8. Similar Products Used: Pentax 100mm f2.8 macro, Pentax 50mm f2.8 macro, Olympus OM 50mm macro. |

optics, price
Weakness:
build quality Surprisingly good optics, poor plastic build. But the fact that it's rather cheaply made, means it's *ultra* light, and perfect for travel and backpacking. Similar Products Used: FA 100/2.8, FA 50/2.8, Tamron 90/2.5 1:2 |
