Strength:
Very sharp, even wideopen.
Weakness:
Big, Heavy, Expensive. Outstanding lense for wildlife photography. Requires quality tripod and wimbley head. Rented the lense a year ago, bought one 2 months ago. Shot 60 rolls of birds, many with the TE-14 (840mm/F5.6). Very sharp edge to edge. The "trunk" case JUST fits as carry on luggage. Wish it were smaller & lighter (who doesn't) as it does get heavy by the end of the day. Customer Service N/A Similar Products Used: 300 2.8 AFS |

AF600mm f/4D ED-IF AF-S Nikkor
Strength:
Extremely fast focusing and tack sharp. The ultimate wildlife lens. Use the TC14E for an unbeatable 840 f/5.6 and with the TC20E you have a very usable (and incredible) 1200 f/8! With an F-5 or F-100 mounted on a Gitzo 1348 and a Wemberly head, you have a world-class setup. A cheetah chasing down a Tompson's gazelle is no problem to capture with the 600 AFS.
Weakness:
No problem, but the size of the lens with the two hoods makes it tough to transport. It's a little too big for the Domke Scope Pack and I haven't found anything else to haul it around in that is a nice as the Domke. If you have the desire and the bucks, GET THIS LENS! Customer Service Never needed service for anything. Similar Products Used: There is nothing similar! |
