Strength:

High contrast, high resoultion, solid construction.

Weakness:

Price

Extemely well made lense. The resoultion and the color rendition are superior in all scale. Although the price is on the high side, it's worth it.

Strength:

This is one of the finest lenses made by Nikon. Very Very sharp. It is lamost a legend. 1 to 1 reproduction ration, manual focus override does not require turning autofocus cameras to manual mode. Excellent color reproduction and sharpness. Just a great lens

Weakness:

A little pricy but worth it

This is the macro lens of choice. Beatiful portraits are also obtainable with this lens. Don't bother to compare it with anything else. There just isn't anything close to it.

I liked this macro lens as all nikons i have. Unfortunately i like Tamron AF90 SP much more not for its price but for better and smoother focusing ring.

Strength:

Extremely sharp. Great contrast and color. Auto/Manual switch is very convenient. 1:1 Macro, 52mm filter size.

Weakness:

expensive... but if I only take one lense this is the one I take so I guess it's worth it.

This is my favorite lense. Extremely sharp. Use something to soften the picture when doing portraits of women! It is much more versatile than the 60mm or 55mm micro-nikkors, doesn't make you get so close that you insight insects into attacking you.

This is a great macro lens!
I've used it for portraiture, but found I had to use a diffusion filter to soften the images a little. I actually prefer a zoom for portraiture because I can change the focal length.
I've had this lens for years and use it frequently.
A focusing rail is very handy for a lot of macro work; it allows you to set this lens at 1:1 magnification and move the position of the lens relative to the subject until you achieve precise focus.
The only better macro lens is the Nikon 200mmf4 (because of the greater working distance, narrower perspective, and diffusion of the background).

feels really solid...sharpness is breathtaking...manual focus seems smooth

Weakness:

nope (but 2 be honest, i just got it a few days ago)

never seen a lens produce such sharp images...price a little high (but you can do like i did; buy it second hand for the price of a new sigma macro lens)...if you intend 2 get more involved in macro photography, this is a lens you should really consider....

Strength:

Sharp. Extremely high resolution which is easily visible on huge prints.

Weakness:

Aperture is not 2.8 at closeup distance. Sometimes cause metering problems with my old manual Nikons. Extremely slow AF even on my F100.

Excellent optics, worth the Nikkor name. Very slow and noisy AF but built well.

Customer Service

Ok.
