F2 a tad soft and not enough contrast

Old goody which shows why the older products do tend to break less often. Perfect all metal build. Smooth zoom ring which makes it pretty much fun to use a non-AF lens.
The image quality is very good. A bit less contrast at f/2 in comparison to "newer" lenses, but already at f2.8 you get sharpness and contrast. That is on a D300 as I have tested it.
So if you liked the 50mm primes in the past on film you are likely to love this one too.
