Strength:

Great quality optics

Weakness:

none

This lens is incredibly sharp and very well made. Don't let the "polycarbonate" body fool you. This thing is tough. It's the best 28 I own. The price is right too.

Strength:

inexpensive, sharp, 52mm filter, one wide-angle lens if you want only one.

Weakness:

not useful enough

I bought this lens after I was tired of 20-35/2.8D sharpness. I bought it with 20/2.8D and 35/2.0D because I hoped it would be a good lens to fill the gap between 20 and 35. I found out I didn't use it that much. It's not as wide enough to make pict dynamic. It's too wide for people group. The good thing is, if you have limited budget and you have only normal lens and you want a wide angle lens and you will not want any other wide angle lens (please note many assumptions), this lens is for you. But, it helped me once when I needed to limited myself to only 3 lens and I opted to pick 28/2.8D, 50/1.8 and 105/2.8D for a weekend trip.

Strength:

Very, very sharp. Light, fast, and inexpensive.

Weakness:

The aperture blades got sticky after five years of ownership and had to be serviced. (My only similar experience was with a 30-year-old lens bought used.) I assume this is an isolated event.

A wonderful lens at a terrific price. Highly underrated. A fantastic lens.
