Strength:
Image quality, build quality, my prints from it
Weakness:
Polarizing filters can not be viewed through finder It is just a joy to shoot and even more enjoyable when you see you prints or chromes. Absolutely stunning results, I''ve tried other brands to see if I could save money and get similar results but have given up and know that Leica glass is in another league. Yes it is expensive but pick up some of the other stuff and you start to understand why, plus look at all the used gear still being used today from the ''50s. Name another brand with that kind of track record. Definitely a treat, gald I own it. Customer Service No experience yet Similar Products Used: You name it...L glass, ED glass, Zeiss, and on and on |

Strength:
Unsurpassed lens quality. Not too contrasty, not too bokeh, just the right amount. The Leica feel on click stop and smooth focusing barel. Small size.
Weakness:
NONE, even the price is reasonable for this kind of quality. Since the size is very small, it fits Leica M to become a compact camera. It is nice for photographic group of people because of the nature of the wide angel lens. For example for pictures taken by this lens look at Customer Service Drop it one time to marble floor from dining table, and guess nothing broke, and still run like new. 35mm f/2 Summicron-M Aspherical (Black)
Strength:
Excellent sharpness and contrast, even wide open. The feature I love the most is the lenses ability to deal with scenes which have high flare potential.
Weakness:
Price, though this is immaterial. As with anything, if you want the best you pay for it. I do a lot of shooting in highly backlit situations and this is by far the lens that has been best able to handle these scenes. Customer Service Have not needed it for this lens, but overall it's the best. Similar Products Used: Nikkor 35mm f2, 35mm F2 (Hexar) |

35mm f/2 Summicron-M Aspherical (Black)
Strength:
Very compact, excellently built, smooth operation, great lens hood, very sharp
Weakness:
Like most rangefinder WA lenses, the lens hood cuts off lots of the image. Perhaps the best combination in the world to take one camera body (any M body) and one lens, for travel or general photography. I never, ever leave without it in my bag. It is worth every dollar spent. Customer Service returns phone calls and does what they say they will. Similar Products Used: Nikon 35mm 2.8 |

35mm f/2 Summicron-M Aspherical (Black)
Strength:
Superb resolution, contrast and flatness of field. Small size, balances well on a M series body, - probably the best shooting combination in 35 mm photography.
Weakness:
The price, many photogs will never try this lens just because the cost is prohibitive. This is a truly fabulous lens, it's performance at wider f-stops is without equal. When combined with a M series body for hand held work no other camera/lens combination performs as well. - It just doesn't get any better than this! 35mm f/2 Summicron-M Aspherical (Black)
Strength:
Excellent sharpness and contrast at full aperture. Stunning night shots at full aperture. No words to say even enlarged to 16X20.
Weakness:
Performance was a bit lower at F/16 than at F/2. I have also tried the 35/1.4 Summilux-M ASPH. When compared side by side, the summicron excel in slightly higher contrast and distorsion free. However, the lux gives more shadows penetration in dark environments, but slightly flares more in direct sun shines . Customer Service Excellent after sales services. Strength:
Smooth, small, light
Weakness:
Nil I thought this lens would be good, but I was stunned at how good it is. When I developed the first 10x8 B&W pic taken with this lens and wide open at that, I couldn't believe it. I have a Leica M 50/2 which I thought was superb and it is, but this lens leaves even that for dead. Customer Service Excellent, had a minor problem with my M6 which was sorted out promptly and with courtesy. Similar Products Used: Nikkor 35/2.8 |

Strength:
Incredible quality
Weakness:
Incredible price Make no mistake, the Summicron is a great lens, beating any SLR standard prime into humble submission. I use a Leica and G2 systems and have come to a personal conclusion that there is little difference in the quality of the Leica optics and G series lenses, independent optic tests seem to back this up. (A lot of comparison parameters such as bokeh and such like are painfully academic especially when comparing lenses that are closely matched.) Similar Products Used: Carl Zeiss for Contax G system |
