Strength:
Everything. It's sharp, fast, fast-focusing and built like a tank.
Weakness:
It's kinda really pricey. I had to sell my village's goat to buy this lens. Well not actually, since I don't live in a village, I don't own a goat and I'm not even really sure where to pawn-off a goat, but it's still pretty d*** costly...but definitly well worth the price. What can I say? I LOVE this lens!!! It's extremely fast, balances my Maxxum 7 very well and feels like it's made to last. Its focusing is ultra-sharp (beware if you're shooting people with less-than-perfect skin and don't want to spend a lot of time on photoshop). The depth of field sometimes appears shallower on the negs than it did through the lens but I like the final effect of shooting wide-open. Customer Service I've never had any problems requiring me to need a Minolta repair except for an issue concerning Sigma len compatibility and my Maxxum 7, but that was taken care of by Gentec (Canadian distributors of Sigma lenses) Similar Products Used: Canon 85mm f1.8 Sigma 100mm f2.8 (macro) Pentax 85 f1.4 (love the lens shade) |
