Strength:
Sharp, small, heavy(!), nice field of view, large manual focus ring
Weakness:
flare!!! I bought this lens in absolute mint condition (restyled version). This lens comes with a nice lens hood, which happens to be the exact one sold with the 35/2 prime! So maybe the hood is not that effective on the 35mm lens. The lens weighs more than one expects, a lot of metal parts in it. Size is very nice, comparable with the 24 and the 35 primes. I absolutely like the field of view on the 7D. A very nice all-around lens. As this lens is also absolutely sharp and a full stop brighter than the 24/2.8 I sold the last one. Unfortunately my specimen has a lot of flare when the sun shining. I was quite stunned by this. My zoom lenses are better in this regard, my primes a lot better. I find myself often shading this lens with one hand to reduce flare and contrast losses. Maybe a customized lens would would do the trick to a certain extend. Apart from the flare this lens is perfect. Similar Products Used: 24/2.8, 35/2.0 |
