Strength:
resolution and contast at mid apertures
Weakness:
nothing of note
The FD lens to which your listing refers is the FDn; there was no breech lock SSC f2.8 (there was, however, a 3.5). The FDn f2.8 is actually a real gem, a wonderful carry-around or backpacking lens on an AV-1 or AT-1 body. The reason to go for the 35mm f2 is a little better performance at wide apertures, marginally better barrel distortion performance, and an 8-blade aperture. The f 2.8, however, for a fifth of the money, gives every bit of the contrast punch and resolution at mid apertures as the more expensive cousin.
